Buying reloading equipment cross border

Fedex / UPS can be cost prohibitive (for ground shipping), unless the shipper pre-pays taxes & brokerage fees, then it can be very affordable, and no surprise bill when the item crosses the border.

Cabelas.com quoted me $90 for shipping, but once I asked a few questions realized it included all taxes and brokerage fees.

As for USPS, they will go bankrupt, it's just a question of time.

They never adjusted their business model to deal with reduced use of letter-mail as Canada Post did many years ago when they went to the postal outlet model.

So even though I can buy a product in the states for $380 compared to a product available here in Canada for $450 I'd probably break even?

Do your own math.

I got my reloading 'shift' in US only 'cos it was cheaper for me to get it in my particular case - I was in US on business for a few days - no need to pay Canadian taxes or duties.

$380 + HST is still less than $450 + HST (GST etc) and you may not have to pay the tax everytime something is shipped or you bring it back. Not all packages can be taxed, too many are shipped every day. And not every agent at the border will charge you tax whether it is owed or not.

I would if I knew what brokerage fees would be and shipping rates:p Just asking others with experience and I live too far away from the border now to take a day trip.
