Ok, so I'm in Vegas and naturally hit up a shop for some trigger time. Oh, on a side note, "The Gun Range" is rather expensive and major lineups. I hit up American Shooters, a little cheaper, no lineups(ok 5 minutes) and the guys were great. They don't care who you are, they give your brief run down on operation of their toys(not that I needed it) then send you in. There are RO's in the bays there to assist if your gun fails(I used this service, more later) or any other issues you have. Anyway, on with the review.

So I took out the Kriss chambered in .45ACP(obviously). Two 25 round magazines was all I grabbed.

Operation: No brainer, magazine up front, left side non reciprocating charge handle, last round hold open. Separate safety and selector switches.

Comfortable, nice short stock for a good square stance. The controls being separated as they were made it odd to operate, just not used to that.

Positive clicks for both safety and the selector, easy to operate, out of the way when firing.

Mag release is protected quite well and is in the classic AR style location.

Trigger wasn't horrible but its no benchrest rifle, nor should it be.

Impressions: For starters, its heavy, equal to others but more front heavy than other subguns. Its bulky, downright huge if you will. Like a laptop with sights and stock. The first one I had out choked constantly, about every two rounds. The guy warned me to keep a firm mount on the thing or it would fail. I locked it in tight and it still failed to extract and/or eject. About a half mag in and the RO came by and swapped it out for the other one. Kriss 2 was much better but still not great. I dropped a couple of pairs then switched to auto. Two rounds in it choked. Cleared it, reloaded and finished the 4 or 5 rounds I had left. Reloaded with a fresh magazine and proceeded to shoot some controlled bursts. It is fast, scary fast. Three round bursts are doable, 2 round bursts are challenging, 5 round bursts are easy and fun. I finished with a long burst, probably 10-15 rounds. Controllable for sure, but no better than an MP5 or AR subgun on auto. Overall, I was disappointed in the Kriss. Still lots of fun to shoot, the recoil motion is different(when you're feeling for it) but again, its no revelation over conventional sub guns.

FN P90

I'll keep this one short. I only ran a single 50 round magazine. My buddy bought me rounds for it and we were short on time so my experience is fairly limited due to both factors.

Impression: Very small, quite light, very ugly(who cares!). I got the gun after my buddy and another had just finished hammering 200 rounds out of it on auto so it was rather hot. The grip and the stock/chassis if you will was slightly warm, but the barrel and charge handle was uncomfortably hot. I could feel the heat radiating off when I picked it up. Magazine seats firmly, controls are easy to reach. The trigger is decent, as good or better than a stock AR. Started with a few short bursts, wow is that thing fast! A very hungry system and the 50 round magazine is essential in keeping it happy. Finished about 20 rounds of the magazine in a single burst. Very controllable, quite loud, similar recoil to say a 10/22 in .22mag. Cool piece of kit, would make a stellar gopher gun, maybe even coyotes, especially on auto.;)

One last mini review/experience. Rocked a 100 rounds out of a PARA M249 SAW with EoTech. Good clean fun. Very comfortable and comforting to shoot. Quite pricey but well worth it. They had others as well, M60E3, SCAR H, Several AR's KRink AK, standard AK, Swedish K, MP5, Thompson, tons of handguns.

I'll list some of the prices I remember from the day.

100 rounds on the SAW including the rifle range rental and the additional machine gun fee($50 for the SAW per person) came to $145

Pistols and sub guns are $10 pistol bay fee plus ammo. The Kriss ran me $47 I believe for the rental and a 50 rounds.

Just got back to the room from shooting shot the Kris's and the M-60 at American Shooters and a RPD a Browning 1919 and a p-90 at Discount Fire Arms these are the 2 best place to shoot in Vegas. Both quite and they don't treat you like an idiot

Seeing that this place is renting these guns probably means they haven't been cleaned properly - hence the jamming. I shot one in Florida back last March and loved every minute of it. Didn't jam once. It wasn't that busy where I shot and so they probably give the gun the attention it needed with regards to cleaning. Las Vegas.....probably not so much with the number of people mentioned shooting.

When I get mine (soon from what I hear), I'll do an honest posting of reliability and accuracy as well. I'll compare it to my USC as well.

I'll second that!

Also should add... nothing in a Vegas gun range is all that reliable... those things probably get more wear and tear and abuse than anything else.

You are absolutely correct, both places have great selections of gear and accessories and no lineups.

The second Kriss I shot had just come from the cleaning corner.

ETA: Oh, one other great place to go in Vegas. If you're looking for more gear and accessories, check out Citadel Gun and Safe. Just off I15 at the south end of the strip, can't remember the street, they're online. Lots of stuff and decent prices.

I wasn't that lucky in Florida!!! :D

Well, that and the thought of running a PS 90 sounds like huge giggles. I have heard that their cyclic rate of fire is very very fast. That alone sounds like serious fun to have 5.7x28 darts going like that, as compared to say.. the AUG.

This is almost a carbon copy to what I was having fun with.
