When cleaning a barrel with a nylon bore brush, is it safe to pull the brush back through the barrel or will this affect the end of the muzzle?

So you clean a bore brush or throw it away after every single stroke? I am basically using my brush to loosen everything up then patch it out.

What I do is use my nylon brush with a patch over it like a jag.

Patch catches all the crud, falls of end of muzzle, pull brush bath through action, repeat with clean solvent soaked patch,do until patches come clean, works alot faster than one would think.

Another thing I am wondering about is when I finally get clean patches after cleaning with butche's and/or ammonia I then put a patch with butches bore lube on it and then the patch comes out dirty with a green color on it. It is frustrating because I finally get a couple clean patches and then the bore lube patch looks filthy. I also have .30 cal patches but I have to cut them smaller because they will not fit through my barrel. Same goes for my .17 cal patches in my .17, my .22 cal patches in my .22-250. I have to cut them all smaller.

I use Bore Tech proof positive jags, so no chances of false indication of copper. I start with their carbon remover and then go after the copper with CU+2

Gale McMillan on nylon brushes:

" Brass brushes are softer than barrel steel and does no harm. S/S brushes are harder than barrel steel is definetly a no no. Nylon may surprise you to know is very abrasive If you doubt this look at the carbide eye on yout fishing rod where nylon line has worn groves into it. "

It makes more sense to pull it back through than to let the end of the rod bang or scrape the rifling on the way back to the chamber.
