Oops, I forgot mine is a svw 45 a block, it is later than yours, but other than the receiver markings it is the same rifle. Here are a couple pics, mine was in an Israeli beech stock when I got it, but all matching correct phosphate finish rifle with a near new bore. A good book to get is Backbone of the Wehrmacht. Could you take the screw out of your front band and take a pic of the stock underneath and if there is a metal sleeve there other than the screwed on endcap in place of the bayonet lug? Thanks!

i didnt take a pic but i can describe it as only laminate wood under the front band, other than the screwed on metal end cap piece. Appears correct to me. (?) Let me know if you really need a pic.
 
Interesting, so that is how they made those 1944-1945 Kar98k stock foreends. Thanks for sharing.

Your example looks like one of those 1945 phosphate examples ?
 
Just received a gorgeous Winchester 1895 Russian Musket (or Vintovka Vinchestya obr.1915G, which I just love) from a board member, with correct markings and a very nice bore. Now I just need the bayonet!

Also recently received, but didn't post until now, a 1940 British contract Colt Official Police in .38/200 with the correct Woolwich arsenal crown, with has unfortunately received a set of Pachmyer grips and a wide spurred hammer. I'm on the lookout for original parts to restore it, so if anyone comes across any grips or hammer assemblies I'd be very interested.

I've got a KRISS SUPER V on its way.......I'll post pics when it arrives......that's enough for one month.....oh ya....I bought lots of ammo too.... :D

That is one of the nicest Russian contract 1895 Winchesters I've ever seen. I can only recall one that was better. I've seen lots of them. I can remember when they first came into the country. The whole shipment was only graded as "FAIR". There were a couple more that came in later but they went to the US, where collectors were emptying their bank accounts for them. Some of the later rifles looked to be unfired, other than their proof rounds. I don't recall how many there were in that condition but it was less than 50 units and ecause I wan't there when they came in I didn't get to see them. I think Lever shipped them out withing a couple of days.

Is the bore in decent shape? I don't ever recall seeing one with a decent bore. Everything from sewer pipe to fair is normal for these.

It was imported on my behalf, so brought it unseen. Over all the gun's good but the stock is a bit loose. Im not sure if thats normal or poor maintenance.

Must all be out west. I've been milsurping here in the east for 30 plus years, attended shows for the same time and saw only one contract musket. :(

It was about $2,500 all up, just took a lot of time. Its not deactivated and no WaA marks I could see so far.
 
Thanks for the kind words guys. It does have a good bore, not mint but I'd call it VG. Should be a good shooter if I ever decide to!
