Hi All
I was in Cabelas the other day looking for a scope for a varmint/long range rifle. I was looking for something a step up from the Legend, Redfield and 3200 on my other rifles.
Looked @ a Elite Tactical(guess they dropped the 3200,4200,6500 designations for new Tactical scopes) not bad. Stiff focus and AO adjustment. Only $499.
Also looked @ the Elite 6500 Tactical (more $) couldn't tell too much of difference besides the increase magnification and light due to the 30mm tube. Almost double the price though.
Moved over to the Nikon Buckmaster, covered target turrets, side parrelax adjust, not quite as clear as the Elites. Not too impressed.
Then further down the counter I noticed the Weaver line-up. Looked @ a Weaver Tactical in 3-15x50. First impression was the heft of the unit. Felt like it weighed twice as much as the other scopes. While the adjustments on the Elites felt stiff and non-responsive, these were smooth and positive. The glass was clear, bright and quick to focus. I quite liked that scope, but I dont know a soul who has a Weaver, beside the old ones from before my era.
Has anybody put one of these through the paces and what do you think?
