Hey CGN help me out,

Did a customary search, didnt find anything so here goes.....

I really really like the look and feel of a long pistol (have used long revolvers before), I am wondering where in Canada can one find one or order one for under $1500? Are there kits that can be used to convert a 1911 into a long slide? Any info would be great.

My holy grail would be a desert eagle .50 with a 8" slide. *I know it wouldn't be cheap or light lol*

as for the bottom most picture, its a fake gun.

Thanks for any info,

Fusion firearms sells long slides and everything you need that goes with it. I'm sure if it needs fitting you can find a smith to take care of it (if you already have a 1911 that might be one option)

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being unsatisfied with the current product available on the market. It's the spark that leads to new and exciting developments.

However, in a design this old with such a huge following, there are relatively few modifications that haven't been tried. Often if the modification didn't remain common, there's a good reason for it.

Just sayin' if your needs are not satisfied with the 6 inch STI product, is it worth the added cost of a custom job??

I thought the AMT Hardballer Terminator was cool. Would love to get my hands on a copy of that gun. apparently the AMT version was not that reliable.

I've heard the same. There are some that turn up now and again. Would be a lot less expensive than a new long slide 1911.

I can't comment on longer guns in general but I got to shoot a 6 inch barrel STI Rangemaster. For a gun that I'd never shot it was producing groups as small or smaller than I can shoot on my best day with my own guns. Given this I'd add a "bull barrel" and matched slide to your list of nice to have mods along with the longer slide and barrel.... or just pay a little more and get a Rangemaster. An amazing looking gun that shoots like a laser for only a couple of hundred over your stated budget... Oh, did I mention it comes stock with a "match" tuned trigger? I'm sure that the trigger was part of the equation. Not "nervous" light but light enough and with zero perceived creep. Just one moment it was holding and about 2 to 3 lbs later it was gone. Absolutely delightful.

is this a "little man" compesation issue? just askin...lol

No. f:P:

I like them because they have less jump in the muzzle, longer sight radius and shake alot less in my hand when sighting.

Plus they have a dam good look, but hey its not for everyone... some men cant handle that much gun

I have an AMT Longslide that I bought new around 1981. Used it to shoot action steel for years as well as some IPSC. Never had an issue with function or anything else. Now there is nothing else with a 7 inch barrel Springfield has a nice 6 inch SS Longslide available at Wolverine, another site sponsor for around $1300.

I purchased my AMT longslide in 1988, i put just about every type of 45 round possible though her (sw .fp, rn,fmj, steel case, surplus, handloads) I have yet to find a load that she won't shoot.
To this day it is by far my fav shooter I have in the safe.
