I have a friend who is trying to find a decent left handed rifle for varmint hunting, unfortunately the search is not going to well. Just wondering what you guys might recommend, he would prefer something in .243 but would welcome other suggestions.

Thanks for reading

The unfortunate thing is that Savage does not offer their best varmint / target rifles in a left hand configuration. I know this from experience being a lefty myself. :(

I'm considering the very same rifle but in RH config.

Look at savage almost every model come in left hand. Or do what I do and use a right handed rifle that will help alot. I held up a left handed gun a few months back and just couldnt work the darn thing. Been shooting left with right handed guns for 15-20 years. I also like the bonus of being able to just look down and see in the chamber and not have to look over to the other side

Eventually when he gets tired of it or just wants a change, that LH rifle will be nearly impossible to sell and its value will be next to nothing. Get a RH rifle and learn to use that. It is a right handed world .... adapt and overcome.

Exact opposite of my first hand experience. Apparently I've overcome.

Thanks for all the responses and I am seeing stuff that we couldn't find doing some online searching so he will be happy about that, I'm listing the ones mentioned here to take to him so he can do some research into them.

Kids feet can be wrapped in old rags and shopping bags. :p

My left hand custom rig is my baby. Resale has never even been a thought from when she was just a gleam in my eye.

If you can scrounge up the cash, nothing is more satisfying than firing off a bug hole group from a rifle that was your dream of what a rifle should be.

You may also consider a ruger #1, chanbered in whatever you fancy. I built a 220 swift with a 28" shilen barrel off of a #1 action a number of years back and it was a half moa gun. It would shoot a 55 grain vmax over 4000 fps into .6 moa all day long, any day of the week. Wish I hadn't sold it.....

I'm a lefty and used right handed firearms for 10 years switched over to left and won't look back. Took three days at the range and I was convinced no more right handed fire arms. Cycling and reloading make life so much easier. As for resale who cares the resale market sucks! Browning,Savage, tikka and Remington all cater to us lefty's.
