I know you all might think I'm nuts, but I have been picking up the odd box or 2 of .17HMR in the hopes of being able to make it out to Southern Alberta this coming spring to help bump off a few of these little buggers. I hope to have a sufficient amount of ammo including some .22lr stashed away for when the time comes to head out that way.
I suppose to be able to do this, I would need to get a WIN card and stuff ??
I am fully aware that I need permission from land owners.
I might be able to take my travel trailer as well as bring the wife and kidlet, so, my question is this.

Where would be a really good spot around Lethbridge, Calgary area that would be close to a good camping area, a town for supplies??????:cheers::cheers:

No WIN card. Point your car South of Lethbridge and head for the Ridge. The towns of Magrath and Cardston are 20 and 45 minutes away from here and all three have campgrounds. PM me when you get here and I'll give you directions to some areas (but not my spots ;))

I asked this question almost a year ago here, and I wasn't confident enough (based on the answers) to just head-out and start blasting. :) I tracked down an office in/near Calgary and spoke to a conservation officer out there. He didn't have the answer, so he yelled over his shoulder to someone else in the room and asked them! lol When he returned to me, he said something to the effect of; "well, you don't really need a WIN card, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to get one" lol True story.

Now, I live in Ontario where you need a license to take a dump...so the "just get permission from the landowner and bring lots of ammo" responses didn't satisfy me 100%. Had something pop-up this summer that prevented me from making the trip, but I'll be heading-out there early next summer for sure. Sold my HMRs, but am hoping my .22WMR will do the job handily. If I buy another rifle this year, I'm pretty sure my wife will leave me. :)

On a gopher note~if anyone knows of any good gopher spots within a hour of Calgary, I'm all ears!

Cheers,
Rob

I will definitely take you up on that! What is this " Ridge" thingy?

The Ridge is a high series of hills and coulee's South of Lethbridge. Lot's of critters up there, including gophers. :)
