Have a little shipping problem

well I got you beat just ordered a USB cable from the states, why pay the $19.99 they want for it here when I can get it at MSRP at $1.50 from the manufacturer.

now normaly you ship something like that in a padded envilope about $4.50 shipping cost from USPS, its considered a package but hey its still cheap.
for some reason they shipped it "express" (despite me ording standard) USPS and it cost $26.
I asked why they said they had to, checked shipping policy, no they didn't. Then then backtrack and and say "customs charges" my response is no USPS doen't charge the shipper customs on a 1.50 cable... nor will they charge me. they back track again, say its handling fee (not on their website) and ignore my email.

final kick in the junk, they shipped it standard international, 7-10 days so it has yet to arive.

Regular mail has no tracking or insurance options...

I order a lot of stuff from the US all the time, no tracking, nothing, never had one single problem.

I shipped stuff all over the world, 0 problemo amigo.

People who are telling all those horror stories about Canada Post are lying or can't pack stuff. There was one guy complaining abut CP like crazy last, how they damaged his package etc.

I bought something from him, his packing was a freakin joke, his gun was missing parts, he promised to replace it, never heard back from him.

ask cp how much they charged marstar

So why post this complaint here? Call the dealer and take it up with them.

Is it me or are there just getting to be a lot of whiners out there who post their little peeves on this site instead of talking to the dealer first?

DEAGLE 2008;

Your first contact was DEAGLE 2008, surely you cannot expect us to know all of the real names behind the thousands pen names here on CGN....

YES you were overcharged on your shipment, YES we adnmitted it, YES we have corrected it....
As you were informed the TOTAL OVERCHARGE was for $2.50, we apologized, what more can we do....

I never said I was overcharged. I had the girl at the PO check it and she said it's correct but she also didn't understand why somebody would ship a $10 small part with $17 postage and signature required expedited shipping - but only John can answer that question - maybe he wants everything to have a number and signature so he can always check it? Don't know. Anyways, you are right, scianna is not my real name.

scianna54 are you DEAGLE 2008 as well ?

if so sorry, if not, John was commenting on DEAGLE 2008 post

or am I really confused, I thought it was 2 separate instances

SCIANNA54;
"Ordered some small parts, staff was friendly as usual. BUT what bothers me is that the small parts I ordered could have been sent letter mail for $1.40, instead it was sent expedited (with signature!?) for over $16 (total value of the parts was $12)."

I don't doubt your word here, however we don't show any person named Scianna54 in our data base....
Unless specified we send ALL shipments signature and insured.... Our experience has shown that unless we have the signature feature customers were claiming non receipt of items....
Small pointy or sharp items have a tendency to tear through even padded envelopes when they travel through Canada Post "destroy mail" machinery....

John

I was referring to this one.

Again, I don't know what customers Marstar is dealing with. Never happened to me while dealing on ebay for over 10 years now.

My first deal on the EE was with a moderator, I sent him a check by snail mail, he sent me the goods ($130 value) and took my word for it.

To scianna54: Have you ever worked in customer service? Sure your word may be "good as gold", and you may be the most honest person in canada, but for every person like you there are 4 more trying to give the system a sore arse.

There is no way for marstar (or any other company) to distinguish your order from one of the "bad" orders. So are they looking at you personally and thinking you are going to ask them to bend over and grab their ankles? no, they factor in dishonesty, the postman who is having a bad day, the guy who sees the over sized letter get dropped off in your mailbox and grabs it, and any other number of things that can go wrong between marstar and your house. Between this and experience, they as many other businesses do, decide that although it is more expensive, requiring a signature ensures you get your order, and that they can walk properly at the end of the day.
Yes it was "only" 12$ worth of parts, but if they never arrive then all of a sudden its as if you lost a gold brick, look at the stink deagle is making for 2.50...

This whole mess could have been avoided by simply asking them what shipping was going to cost on the parts before finalizing the order. Don't assume that shipping will be proportional to value of goods, there is a minimum charge...
-----------------------------------------------------------------

As for deagle. 2.50$ Dear god, marstar must be purposely overcharging you Its a conspiracy! Has it ever occurred to you that companies regardless of size, still have employees? and said employees might be having an off day, or any number of things that can cause a simple miscalculation, people make mistakes sometimes.

Nobody there caught the mistake, s**t happens. You figured it out, good job, you pointed out their mistake, and they gave your 2.50$ back, which was owed, so why keep bringing it up? everything has been regulated, they apologised and gave you your money back, what more do you want, your order to be free? If it was you who made the mistake what would you do?

Id say Marstar shipped it correctly.. Getting a signature and having tracking is the only way a company would be able to keep track of packages arriving safely.. Otherwise they would get 100 emails a day of 'my $4000 item didnt arive today, please send me another'. Does it suck to pay so much on a small item? Yes. Having the item lost in the regular mail is worse. :)

The problem with UPS is that they will not deliver to a rural address. If Marstar sends me a package through UPS, I have to drive 75 km return to pick it up. A friend of mine ordered two 1911 mags from Marstar and he had to drive 140 km return to pick them up from UPS.

Unfortunately it only takes one customer trying to screw you to make you change your shipping policies. We sent out an item a couple of years ago. The item was insured, but no signature. The customer claimed to have not received it. Whether he did or not is up for debate, however, the grief and time involved with trying to get a refund out of Canada Post was enough for us to never ship another large item without a signature.

Canada Post is expensive, that's just the way it is. I would NEVER send small parts lettermail as they will likely end up scattered on a conveyor belt somewhere. As for the fragility of envelopes.....we had a cutomer send a Rem 700 bolt to us in an Expresspost envelope. You would think they are pretty strong envelopes. The envelope showed up to us empty!! You can never be too careful with Canada Post. We have a flat rate of $10 for small items. With postage and shipping materials we are normally close to, or over, that amount by the time all is said and done.

1st of all i did ask them the shipping costs when i was ordering the guy said i dont know
2nd the packaging was way oversized for a bayonet
3rd 2.50 is what john came up with as over charged prise
79.95+12%tax=89.55-115.34=25.70
cp said they charged them 16$ - 10% discount

"cp said they charged them 16$ - 10% discount "

In an effort to put an end to this never ending debate about the multi million dollar scam put forth by Marstar.

I have broken down in great detail the costs for shipping the order, since this appears to be either not understood or your not willing to beleive us I make you the following friendly wager;
IF THE CANADA POST charge you mention is correct I will refund your entire purchase, if on the other hand it is not correct, as we have tried to explain several times, I will ask you to match the total in the way of a donation to the Childrens Hospital of Eastern Ontario....

A fair wager ??

1st: ask them to get back to you with the costs of shipping before the order is placed. (the original statement was for the op btw not you. Cause even if they told you shipping this would have still happened )

2nd What is defined as way oversized for a bayonet....

3rd Did you ever get a second verification from CP or just took the first persons word for it, could they have made a mistake?
