I am trying to book my first ever duck/goose hunt. I need some advise on the steps I need to take. I have a few questions, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have my PAL and have a great shotgun, have been practicing on clays for a year and think its time to go on a hunt. I just recently moved to Montreal, I would be looking to go somewhere within an hour or two drive if possible.

Is it too late in the season to get organized for this?
What other licensing do i need?
Where do I get the licenses?
How long does it take to get licensed to hunt?
How much does it cost?
Can anyone recommend a good guide?
How much do they charge per day?

No idea on specifics, but in Ont you'll need a small game license and a waterfowl stamp.

Don't know how long for QC, but I would think a few weeks at least.

Guides here charges 300 or so for a half day hunt depending on what you are looking to do.

No idea but i doubt you'll have it in time for this season unless you want to buy a non resident's license.(if you already have some kind of hunter's certificate)
You will need to take the hunter's course. You might be able to swap an existing hunter's certificate from another province but I'm not sure bout that.
Go here for Hunter's Certification:

Sorry, can't help you with a guide. I hunt goose across the border in Ontario. But if you go to any of the better outdoor stores Le Baron, Sail etc they might be able to put you on to someone.

I cross posted this to the French forum, maybe one of those guys can help you out.

Also check out Sentier Chasse et Peche (news stand)which is also available in most libraries and look at the classifieds.

In any event look to getting your Hunter's Certificate sorted out.

Here is a schedule for the Montreal region and some contact numbers.
