T/C Contenders some of the reasons you should have one... :)

per their website: WEIGHT: 5.4 lbs with 23" rifle barrel.

How is the recoil with the 45/70 at that weight?

My 375 H&H on my Pro Hunter isn't that bad. It definitely kicks harder than .308 and 30-06. But it's not anything to cry about. I kind shoot 20+ rounds without bruising or discomfort. I don't know how else to liken recoil.

I would imagine the 45/70 to be a little less of a sharp kick than the 375.

Go to Ed's Contenders he has a very good selection of new and used inventory and Clay can bring them in for you...

the recoil in my 45-70 Katadin barrel, using medium loads is quite noticable! LOL!

The recoil system in my Prohunter butt stock compresses noticably. But doesnt feel bad.

A full horse power load would be risky. Probably be slapped by the scope, I would imagine.

I think the stock would tend to compress enough to negate my eye relief of my scope.
this is were a standard Encore stock would be better.

With the 16.5" 22LR barrel it is 31" with the shorter butt stock in the second pic it is 26 3/8" with my 14" 45 Colt carbine barrel it is 28 1/2"...

and I'm thinking of getting a s/s Encore so I can get a 18' 460S&W barrel then I can shoot all of my 454 Casull loads and I would also like a 21" tapered 375 cal wildcat barrel that would give me 2650fps with 260gr Accubonds.

Great pics Camp.Like seeing the little guys in the field.Got my little guy a savage cub and he's become a very good shot with it.He can hit a popcan all day long at 75 yrds.I'm going to get him a small .243 next as all my guns are way too big for him(I'm a big guy).Going to start my daughter on the cub here pretty soon, she's starting to show an interest because her big brother is doing it.She follows him like a puppy dog lol.

I'm looking at buying an Encore Pro hunter Cam. What do you think of them?

I have never shot one only held them but they feel good to me just bigger than my Contenders.

I have been thnking about buying one for some time now want it chambered in a .375" wildcat that will give me 2650fps with 250gr TTSX or 260gr Accubonds in a 22" barrel.

I also want a 18" - 20" 460 S&W barrel that way I can shoot all of my 454 Casulls in it plus I'd get some 460 brass and really play.

I really like my Contenders only issue I have ever had was a hammer spring broke.

What had happened is I sent my original frame appr 15 - 16 years old at the time in for a warranty check and the springs were changed a few weeks later on a hunting trip with the frame set up with the little guys 22LR the spring broke.

I sent it back and had it fixed which was a blessing in disguise because I dug out my Marlin 917 in 17HMR for grouse and was amazed at how awesome it was on grouse I was shooting them in the head out too 75 yards = I now have a new favorite grouse gun... :)

I mentioned this to try and show that I am very happy with the Contenders and the Encores are even more of a gun than a Contender only reason I don't have one already is because I have the Contenders.
