I can back that too.
They have come a long ways since their introduction in 1974.
Found some more info...
Hello all, Mike from Archangel here. Wanted to stop in and answer any questions you might have regarding the new Archangel Sparta stock for the Mini-14/30. Yes, the Sparta has been shown to the public a little early. But I will defend that it is a good product and we are not that far off from production. I hope you will try one out.
I wanted to mention that due to the cost of manufacture of aluminum flip sights that they retail for close to $100 each... So a set of sights like those on the Sparta video are around $200 retail for the set. We could not offer the sights included and still be a worthwhile product for a manufacturer without charging at least $400 retail. There might be a deluxe package that includes sights in the future, but that is up to marketing... At the basic price of $249, the end user can choose their own sights (which they might already have) or go with telescopic or electronic.
The takedown of the Sparta is much easier than you would think. you remove the four cap screws, slide the top rail forward about a quarter of an inch and pull upward. The trigger group removes as normal with the addition of the spring loaded gap filler behind the trigger guard. Additionally, I have removed and reinstalled the top rail multiple times with no loss of zero. The top rail interlocks to the lower in multiple locations and is precision aligned by the cap screws that fix it in place. The stock is a precision fit and locks the action into place. We have seen a consistent 25% increase in accuracy from initial testing, and expect it to get even better before we go to full production.
Sounds pretty good so far.
No more news on the Spartan kits??
We are very close to release now. The final components are in molding now.

If the price is right (I'm guessing under $300 CDN), add the price of a mint Mini-14 from EE, you can get a non-restricted tactical-looking ACR-lookalike for about $1k - SWEET. Also, if the LGR is gone by then, watch for the Mini-14 to fly off the shelves with this kit as I'm sure many people would pick this up as their first .223 semi rifle.

I was thinking this stock, with a mini-30 and custom Grendel barrel. From these guys http://www.ruger-mini-14-firearms.com/ruger_mini_prices.php
Just not sure if this stock will take the mini-30.
I found this on the Archangel Development Channel on YouTube (Channel Comments)...

After my comment i received an email with Mike Ballard from Archangel's person cell number and i called him directly. He explained all the set backs and told me we would be seeing them with in the next few weeks. I have to comment as to his willingness to explain all the issues they ran into that prevented them from releasing it as they had hoped. We all need to be patient and be thankful that they did not release us a product that we would all have been very un happy with. His willingness to give me his cell number and let me call him directly (someone on Youtube) after bashing them, and answer my call along with my questions. This really gives me a good feeling about this company and the final product we are going to be getting in a few weeks.
thanks Mike, you won me back over with customer service and i am now more excited than ever to see this product!
