At the range tonight trying to figure out why my GSG 1911 is spraying all over the place, adjusting sights tried a bunch of stuff still spaying, Next thing I know slide comes back and wont go forward, look down the spring guide is sticking out and up at a funny angle, ok strange quickly dismantle it and presto spring guide rod snapped clean in half :( Warranty call tomorrow i guess :)

Sounds like you had your spring in backwards.Blueline will take care of you and youll be shooting it in a week.

I don't have the cone spring in mine, It is the circular spring so I am not 100% sure how you could put it in backwards? but i could be wrong

Also there is a little metal black ring that came out I have no idea where it came from I haven't seen it before, Its not the clear plastic recoil buffer it is just a little metal ring i think it might go in the back of the spring plug as the guide rod fights through it no problem well whats left of the guide rod. :)

I've not hand any first hand experience with these guns, but apparently the most important upgrade is a steel guide rod. The pot metal ones they ship with are prone to breaking.

yeah mine is the second I know of at my range in two weeks, I hope to get a new one under warranty and then buy a steel always good to nave a backup.

still wish I could find where this little black ring goes though it isn't listed in the parts list or anything doesn't look like it is broken either so not sure

just went through this.

After about 2000 rounds through my GSG1911 the recoil spring guide broke where the guide connects to the large cylinder.

The new one I got from Blueline under warranty is all metal and looks much better. The plastic version was probably a design flaw.

Also, I suspect when you put the recoil spring in backwards (yes they are conical, all of them) the tip of the recoil spring guide is probably not properly aligned and that may accelerate its demise. Not sure but that's my guess anyways.

Big thank you to Scott and Blueline, they are good to deal with and must have a bit of a headache dealing with all of that.

The GSG 1911 is a lot of fun though.

I do believe your right the one that comes with it is a Cheap POS, mine broke at the same spot as yours and after about the same round count, Got to phone Dlask this morning and find out how to get it fixed so. That taper has to be pretty small then becuase I cannot see it on my spring, I know my manual has a special insert about but for the life of me I cannot see the taper on my spring might have to measure to find out, Either way seems like this is a common problem on them.

Thanks ryan I apperciate the offer but it is all taken care of, Althought since you deal in GSG stuff do you know if the GSG 522 is ever going to make its way to canada?

Here we go again :p

and this means? its a simple question sine blueline actually has info on their site about the gsg 5 (be it old) simple question yes maybe not in a million years, I havent been able to find any info on it, isnt that what this is about the free sharing of information?

Well the GSG-5 (I assume the 522 also) shares the same bolt system as the ISSC MKII Scar look-a-like which has been proven to be less than reliable. I would have bought the ISSC but things ive heard have steered me away.

Hello Virtualdodo,

The GSG5 and therefore the GSG 522 are still at this time considered a Prohibited firearm under the Canadian regulations. Though we are still trying to change the status there are no updates at this time.

Ryan

The latest version of the GSG guide rod you place the polymer washer then the metal spaced then the recoil spring. They did this to prevent the barrel bushing from turning.

Scott
