Cycles smoothly right out of the box, much better then my 870 marine magnum. The sights are really different to me as im only used to beed sight on shotguns. The bayonet is huge!

Nice Shotgun. You keep this up, your gonna get me hooked on this Mossberg ####.Feel much heavier then a 500?

Oh ya but the 500 i have is only the one with the pistol grip, im sure it would be heavier then a full size 500 due to the heavy walled barrel, miltary trigger guard and safety ( steel instead of plastic.) Looks nice, have to see what it does at the range next week, if i can get the 50 yard section of the rifle range.

Welcome to the club!.

590A1's are awesome value for what you get.

I managed this at 50 on a cold day in March Winchester 3" Magnum slugs

Could be alot better, but I'll take it :)

My only complaint is the porting, the plastic wads will form "streaks" after the ports in the barrel. Abit of a nuisance to clean out, other than that, it's a great shotgun.

just don't do any prying with the bayonet- it's not a FULL TANG- that goes for any of the m9s out there- the shelter ( not sheath) is made of plastic and you can use the knife and shelter to cut wire( so they say) that's a screwdriver on the end of the shelter, and there used to be a sharpening stone and small pouch as well- if you try to pry with it, it'll break at the hilt- it's the same bayonet as used on the m16a2

Sweet buy, I've got one myself but it's only a 6 shot, still it gets the job done both hunting partridge and at the range. So much fun to shoot and cycles like butter, best value for money in pump action shotguns by far.

Sorry to hear that the bayonet is not full tang, but I feel better about not springing for one when I bough mine.

Interesting. Do you prefer this overall to the 870 Marine?

-Frank

I do, at least to the marine i had. I bought mine from whole sale sports and have to say it never cycled or felt as solid as this 590A1, but i havnt had years of experience or anything, this is just one amature talking here. Ill know more when i get some more use in. I will say that both Mossbergs i have cycle better then the 870 marine magnum i had.

Just went out and shot 25 2 3/4 slugs, the same about of 00buck and 25 #4 bird shot. No malfunctions at all. Works flawlessly, only thing i would change is the ghost ring sights, little to fancy for me, i prefer just a bead site. I was there less then half an hour, time flys when your having fun, though i can feel my shoulder hurting now lol.

Nice! Thanks for the range report. I'm a new A1 owner as well and enjoying the quality of the product.
I went for the base 20" model... but sure like that bayonet option. I'll be looking into that......

...anyways ...... here's a pic for others to compare

GG34...did you get the bbl ported only or did you get the full VangComp treatment done?

I like both the bead and GR sights...so got both.

I think OKC-3S bayonet should solve this problem - I intend to get one for my 590A1 - they tend to be pricey though...

I got mine out and every time i shot the bayonet would fall off !!
Have any of you heard of this ? Or do i just have a bad bayonet ?

The shell sock is junk, get rid of it. It will slide up and get in the way after the first shot.
