Standard gun choice

I am currently shooting in production using a Gen 4 17. I am planning on moving up to Standard eventually and want to shoot Major. I am looking for a pistol that is a striker fire, 10rd capacity and not a Glock. I know about the MP 40 and am considering it. Are there any other choices?

I requested striker fire only because I don't like having to manipulate a safety on drawing. I have tried the STI's and others, I just like the simplicity of drawing and firing.

you could also look at a CZ Tactical. you would have no safety (hammer down DA first shot). it would have the weight of a all steel gun to help with recoil and with a trigger job, you can get the SA pull as nice as a 1911/2011. it comes in .40 so you can shoot major.

The CZ tactical in 40 cal. looks interesting. I like the decocker, I don't like the DA first shot. How much are they? Are they available up here? I will look around. It seems like the XDM 5.25 is not available up here yet.

You don't have to like it, just have to get used to it.
It comes with a lot of practice.

since you will be shooting standard, you can have a trigger job done. the pistol smith from Armco shoots one in standard and both DA/SA are unreal. He is also a Grandmaster shooter.

there is also the ruger sr40 same as the sr9 but in .40.

I tend to agree get a 1911 style gun. I have a tuarus 24.7pro in .40 i used for standard for a couple matches and I got schooled... badly.... get a cz in .40 and call it a day. If you have a bit more cash look into what tanfolgio or STI have to offer. You won't be disappointed.

PS whatever you decide on DO NOT GET A TAURUS.
