JR Carbine barrel shroud....finally

I just got mine this week and prepped it last night for the first range visit. I installed a new Vortex Strikefire on it and headed for the range today. Sighted it in and fired a total of 150 rounds with it. I have the Gen 2 with full round barel. I started having feeding issues about 65 rounds in: a quick once over revealed the main bolt on the mag adapter was loose. Tightened it up and all was good once again.

Seems like it will be a neat little carbine. I held my 100m groups to ~2 inches (benched of course) which I thought was very good for a pistol caliber and using an aimpoint with only 2x magnification. The carbine in .40S&W recoiled a lot more than I thought it would compared to my 9mm Storm. It has the AR "sproing" sound thru the butt stock and all controls are mounted similarly and are easy to use. I think I am going to enjoy it.

Regards,

Harv, is yours the pyramind type barrel of the newer round barrel?

Pyramid. Hopefully the shroud will work on it also. Of course I never got around to calling today, but it's on the top of the list for tomorrow.

Shooter, how is the shroud secured? If it's one or three screws I'll probably be good, but two may not work well at all.

Hey Harv. See end of my post #17 above. It may work on the pyramid barrel. What is the "span" of that barrel? You could test fit a piece of 3/4 inch pvc plumbing pipe around it to get an idea. 2 screws work fine.

Finally spoke with Val, and he says the shroud/clamp system that Shooter has won't work with the pyramid barrel. :(

However, he's going to build one for me that's 16.5" long that will reach back and clamp to the round part of the barrel under the handguard. :)

I'm not sure what this will look like though, or how much it might add to the muzzle heavy feel of the carbine, but I'll give it a try anyways and will report back as soon as it's in my grubby little paws.
