The final group shot while sighting in my Garand this morning:

3 rounds, 100yds, 165gr SST over 47.5gr of IMR4064, National Match front sight and rear insert. Measures 0.55". The same load did 0.75" in initial testing, so it looks like this one is a winner. I am going to have to frame this target, since I may never repeat the feat. :D

I think that I am good to go for deer season next week.

Good shooting there. IMR 4064 is always an excellent choice. For deer hunting recommend you raise zero to 2inches above POA @ 100yds. The backbone to belly height of the tgt is 12-14 inches.

Hey Purple,

the POA was the bottom of the black and the group is just under 2" high. I am thinking about one more click of elevation, or a half step using my adjustable aperture to get the zero a bit closer to 200yds, which is my max range with the iron sights. I got a mulie doe with this rifle last year and look forward to more of the same this year. :D
