G'day gents.

I have a Cooey 600 that has served me well for a couple years. Not long ago the bolt came apart in the middle. It looks as though the little threaded ring holding the two parts together is badly stripped. Is there an easy fix for this or should I just sell this gun to one of you folks for parts?

My camera has given up the ghost so I am unable to take any pictures at this time. Any experience/input would be great.

Pictured is a pic taken off the net with the problem area of the bolt pointed out if the explanation above wasn't clear.

Thanks.

A brand new bolt should be oversized on the bolt handle area that rides against the receiver bolt handle cut and needs to be cut down. That way you can fit it properly. A used one might be undersize or oversize. It's not good when they are undersize dramatically, as it can spit back powder at you. As Winnipeg Toymaker says, they can also be built up by welding, then filing and stoning back down.

I never gave it a second of thought until now. I have been educated today. So if you measure headspace and there is a number, say... one thousandth of an inch excess play, would you remove that same amount from the bolt handle?

Sorry if I am hijacking OP. Didn't mean to.

The bolt handle is the only lock on these...I really am a nanny!
By adding material to the rear of the handle, you would force the bolt's face closer to the chamber.(reduce headspace) removing material you would open it up. As stated a brand new bolt would be a touch heavy (not even able to close) to accommodate various wearing on various receivers. A used bolt is a mixed bag...add or remove as required.

"play" on a closed bolt is n'er good...
