Stopped by Wholesale Sports in Nanaimo last week and got a look at the 2012 Winchester catalogue. Noticed the model 70 "75th Anniversary" edition. Basically a Super-Grade with engraving on action and floorplate . .30-06 only MSRP $1,700.00 range. Even more interesting to me is the new "Alaskan" model available in 06', .300WM and .338WM. Barrel is the original contour, 25" with iron sights and original integral rear-sight base (saddle). MSRP $1,269 range.
Hope some of these make it up here this year. Don't see much on the 'net about them yet.

also new is the 70 Ultimate Shadow Stainless synthetic which will sell for around $950. A less expensive stainless alternative to the Model 70 Extreme Weather.

So far have only been able to look at "store copy" 2012 catalogues at local shops. It's killing me not to have my own copy to drool over. I'm quessing we wont see any 2012's up here until late summer.

Thank God they didn't reintroduce the Model 70 Featherweight in 6.5x55mm.

Because I stupidly sold one.

And if they did, I'd have to buy two just to be safe.

Agree. Wish they'd expand their caliber options a bit now they're FN owned. Top of my "wish list" is a 7X57 Super-Grade/ Featherweight. Ooough and a .300H+H.

It doesn't have to be punched out to AI. Just load up some Barnes Original 250 Grainers and mow'em down.
