308 Palma brass

My mistake.I pulled a bullet, the British Palma was berdan primed. I have various Palma Boxed ammo, when was the last time Canada made their own Palma? Some of the brass is even stamped PALMA, with the year. Boxes are either 17 rounds, or 20 rounds.

1995 was the last year that the Palma match was fired using ammo supplied by the hosting country (and FWIW 1995 that was New Zealand). After that all Palma Matches have been "BYOA" (and this has vastly improved the fairness of the match).

The Palma match was most recently held in Canada in 2007 and prior to that in 1982, so the last year that Canada would have supplied ammo to the Palma Match would have been 1982. I don't know if DA ammo was used for the Palma match that year or if some other arrangements were made. In 1992 the host country was still supplying the rifles for the Palma match as well as the ammo, in 1982 Canada supplied Sportco rifles.

And FWIW I think 1982 was the last year that the host country supplied rifles.

I now realize I made a mistake above.

The 1999 Palma Match, which was fired in South Africa, was the last match that had ammo supplied by the host country. BYOA for the Palma Match started with the 2003 Palma which was fired in Britain.

There was a time when the DCRA had match ammo. I have a few little boxes of Gold Cross and Carmichael 7.62. I also have some white boxes marked Jenson Palma.

DCRA still sells small amounts of match ammo (mostly to help visiting shooters who can't fly in with enough ammo). For a number of years now it has been a custom batch of ammo made by Hornady using the 155 Amax.
