CC in Canada..what would you carry?

I love these threads. It's like a different version of when you're talking with someone about what you'd do if you won the lottery.


As far as if I was able to carry, I'd probably go with a G19 in a Praetor Defense holster.

But then again, I don't really know anything about guns or carrying concealed...
 
I also find these threads interesting....close to a fantasy world for some !!

A few considerations on CC:

For sure the most powerfull pistol than can be controlled accurately in defensive shooting drills or your favorite piece or that nice custom pistol you have...But let me go in another direction...

I guess most people here have a full time job so I'll adress these. Imagine your regular work day with all there is in there (coffee break, lunch, meetings, chatting around, etc) Then see that same picture with your favorite piece in your favorite holster !! As we're talking CC, no one, I mean nobody at work saw that bulge when you sat in the corner at lunch break or bent over on the counter (you cant !!)...Forgot to say that you had that jacket (or other cover) on all day...Seriously ??

Take that picture x 5 work days / week x a few weeks-months. Then there's the casual life outside work: at home, kids, shopping, groceries, etc still packing that full size defensive piece...

I think that talking to real life people that are carrying as part of their job (LE comes to mind) can give out a few real world pointers...Some in the USA also have CCW in various states & can give real world advice on such matters...

Had a afew scary moments overseas with my Serpa paddle holster

Like when I was having a #2 and when I pulled my pants up "the paddle holster and gun fell of my belt and bounced of the rim of the toilet :eek: " It was a a really messy #2 too!

Also getting chocolate cake out off your tritium sights is a PITA

man, the only people who will notice a concealed gun are people who are specifically looking for one, and if you know anything about dressing around a gun, I guarantee you can carry every day for a decade without anybody ever noticing anything out of the ordinary.

With proper gear it is very, very easy to conceal a pistol and most people are not running around tracking who has a 3/4" bulge at their appendix or kidney. It's a fold of the shirt, or a phone, or it's not getting noticed at all.

Ask anyone who carries...at first, you feel obvious. After a week, you think you're blending in. After a year, you know that nobody's looking. Try it at the range if you're there for a multi-day event. You will quickly realize that nobody can tell, because you will realize that if you're doing it, it's entirely possible that other people are too, and you have no idea who.

Guy's like this scare me. Can you imagine being in a restaurant and the guy two tables over "flicks out" the ninja baton for the salt shaker? Jeessiss...I'm reaching for my CC and watching very closely at what he does next! That's if we had CC :p...which we don't, because there are guys like this out there methinks :D
 
I don't understand why large handguns are listed as ccw guns in this thread. If we could carry there would be no 12.6. Just do a search of the most popular ccw guns in the USA. After a month gun shops would be selling out of small carry guns.
