What I find the "coolest" is that the majority (8/15) are smoking and not looking ashamed of it. By the way, I don't smoke.....................anymore.

I was going to mention that very thing, almost every single one of them is holding a cigarette. I think it makes the picture that much more badass.

To the OP... actually I think this is an optical illusion. Take a ruler and measure from the front of the mag to the forward band ant then the end of the barrel... all the same. Just looks shorter, though... I agree... but is it really?

Not 100% sure but aren`t two of the rifles missing the front sight protectors? ie the guy on far right front row and guy second from left also front row?

Good for you, I was about to comment on that. Not only missing the protectors, but missing the blades even!

Here's another pic of the same guys. I could be mistaken (the angle is bad on a few) but the rifles in this pic have front sight protectors.

Those rifles are all the same full length.

Not by my measurement. In the first pic, front row guns are 3" mag to muzzle (depending on the resolution you are viewing at) but the center one is 3.5". Weird. But if they are line throwers, maybe that explains the difference...

I spent the summer of 1991 in Churchill, MB doing climate/field research with a group of University graduate students. I remember "unofficially" touring around some of the old abandoned NORAD defence buildings by myself. Really cool stuff ! One building was clearly some sort of command centre with a huge map on the wall. The basement was purposely filled with water (and of course frozen). I found a small back room with a bunch of old movie reels on the shelf. I was so tempted to grab a few reels as a memory, but my conscience got the best of me. I hear all the old defence buildings have since been demolished. Too bad. Fond memories.

My dido (grandfather) has a pic from when he served with the Polish army in the 40's. Gotta see if I can get a scan of it...
