Cotton or Synthetic?

Leaving no stone unturned...?

I prefer cotton twill because they absorb more solvent personally. Makes it easier to get the bore dry when cleaning time is over.

Polyester and other synthetic patches aren't worth beans. Less absorbent, don't remove fouling as efficiently and catch and fray on anything that has an edge even rough skin.
Twill and linen patches do the job much better. Few if any match rifle CF or RF shooters use synthetic patches.

Damn straight! It's my right as a newbie to ask as many dumb questions as I like, until the firearm ownership age of 1 year. :runaway:

Lol... The best way to learn is just keep asking, some people here can be jerks to newbs, but for the most part most of us are more than happy to help answer your questions. Fire away!

Welcome to CGN!

My used clothing, in too bad shape to be given away end up in patches :) I'm 6'1" 285, so I can make lots of patches from 1 shirt :D

I actually buy patch material. "cotton flannelette" is what i buy. It's about 8 bucks a meter, and cuts into about 200 dollars worth if you buy the pre cut ones. Bonus: you get all sizes without runing out of one size before all the others (like from mixed packs).
