G96 or Break-Free CLP on GTA

I used to use Ballistol until I put 2 and 2 together --- always had an asthma attack after cleaning with it. Did a little research and found that indeed it is associated with asthma exacerbations. Too bad, as it worked well.

I've been looking a agricultural grade (ie supposedly non-toxic) alternatives to CLP, etc and see that there are many soy based CLP products.....in the USA, looks like FROG LUBE from the San Diego region has quite a cult following and fits the bill for agri-based.

Thanks. Will be buying soon!
Wow. You guys have a few more things I want to buy as well! :D

I went to Bass Pro to this evening to buy my Tipton rod and I saw a whole bunch of Break-Free product. Including CLP in both squeeze bottle and aerosol.
I then actually FOUND THE GUY who told me on the phone they did not carry Break-Free and went at him. Didn't get me a discount but I felt good in the end. :D

HAha there you go..told u it was there...

If you are looking for a CLP you should give Ballistol a try. I'm using it on all of my firearms and knives and I'm very impressed.

The only negative IMHO, is the smell - it smells like barf. :(

Note that Ballistol may not be the best preservative/anticorrosive under humid conditions. It is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs moisture. Even the manufacturer mentions it.

You will find that some CLPs these days, like Break-Free, are nothing like what they were years ago. Many have relatively low toxicity

Break Free is now just a pale shadow of it's original formula. (which was quite toxic)
