Rem .260?

Just got 3 boxes of Remington .260 given to me. If I were to buy a gun to use up this nice free ammo, what should it be? I already have a .204 Ruger, 7mm-08, .308Win, and .300Win Mag....would the .260 fill a perceived 'hole' in my list of hunting calibres? Or is it really just a target round...?

I have heard it said that the .260 is one of the most 'inherently accurate' rounds out there. True? Or 'urban legend'...

With a 7-08 and a .308, there's not much sense in getting a .260. trade the ammo for something you could use already.
 
Buy one. They're awesome. I have a Ruger Compact that is the most accurate rifle that I have ever owned. My wife had a Remington Model 7 that killed a black bear with one shot. I really love the calibre.
 
With a 260, there's not much sense in having a 7-08 & 308. Sell those two for a sweet scope for your new 260. It's a much superior round to either
 
Would it be possible to re-barrel a Steyr Scout? I think that would be a dandy round for the little feller...Since it is just another version of the .308 everything else would work, no?
 
the more guns the better, get a rifle for the 260 ammo, you'll be glad that you did. trust me! go even further, get a gun for every cal out there!
 
With everything between .22-250 and a.300 Win Mag, I looked at 6.5 x 55 and .260 Remington for a build. Recommendations were 50:50 but a short action offer made the decision. It is extremely accurate, pleasant to shoot and I can't wait to let my grandson try it.
Would also make a great lady's gun.
If I had a 7mm08 and a .308, I would drop the 7mm08 and go to the .260 Remington not that there is anything wrong with the 7mm08 but you would have more scope by dropping the one closest to the .308.

I happen to agree.
This year I pulled off a leupold vx3 from my #1 go to gun and installed a Swarovski Z6.
WOW :cool:

A Sako 75 in 260 is my #2.
Mild to shoot in a lite gun. Easy to load for too.
 
The 260 is a great round, fantastic deer killer of which I've owned two. It won't do anything the 7-08 won't do, it does recoil less than a 308, but it doesn't recoil much either.

Factory loads never suited my fancy with it, the 125 gr partition was to me the perfect bullet for the round loaded to right around 2900 fps.

Remington stopped loading that one a while ago.

Today I will be hunting with a 6.5 Swede loaded to 260 velocities with a 129 grain Hornady spirepoint.
