S&W 629 "Canadian Edition"

I also concur with the Mountain Gun; it would be sufficiently different from my 29-3 with the barrel shortened to 5" to justify it to me.

I'd probably buy a full lug 4.2" 629.

That would be the only one I would have interest in also. I have the Ruger on order, and can buy a S&W 629 with the 5" any day of the week, so I am holding on for this option to happen.

How would a 629 look like?

Like magic, pure stainless steel goodness. With the full underlug, Angels would sing and Demons would cry.

Are they N freme revolvers, or smaller? I still have no idea how they look like.
Do they have full underlug barrels?

Wekipedia does not show clear pic.

Take a look above at the Mountain Gun pic I posted. They are based on the N-Frame. The 45 version looks identical to the 44Mag version.

Hope that helps.

Another request, it would be nice if the cylinder for the 44 was cut to accept full moonclips.

Yes, they are both N Frames. Mountain Gun versions of both the 625 (.45 Colt or .45 ACP) and 629 have been built. These have the tapered "pencil" barrel, as shown above.

The 625 is often found with a full-lugged 4" barrel, as shown on this Jerry Miculek model:

A 629 with the same style of barrel would look similar, but I don't know if S&W has ever made a full-lug "Classic" version in the shorter barrel length; they are generally 5", 6-1/2", or 8-3/8".

The standard 629 barrel is a heavy, half-lugged barrel like this:

Blued Model 25s in both .45 ACP and .45 Colt have been made in this barrel length and contour, but I don't think it has been done with the stainless 625. Of course, S&W will make almost anything using a standard frame and cylinder for a distributor willing to place a large enough order.

Here's a look of my Mountain Gun wearing Herrett's stocks...

... or with round-butt stocks (read "Palm-Swell Killer"... ).
