I have a one piece steel rod. Looks like I'm supposed to screw a jag into the end.
I hope I didn't scratch up my bore with the end there
Edit: Cleaning because the gun is new, not because it's been shot.
There may have been contact as the patch was pushed aside. If I've scratched the bore, how will it appear when I look through the barrel?
Your probably worrying over nothing. Get a bore light, look at rifleing for scratches. Scratches are not good, but can be smoothed out by a smith. Clean from breach to muzzle. Use a very small patch soaked in Hoppes 9 (I take a 1.5" shotgun and quarter them with scissors). Patch should fit onto tip of jag, and be pushed with minimal resistance. Best to use a one piece rod, stainless, with ball bearing handle, and brass bore guide. (IMO).
