2011 NL Moose

Am I blind.Where is the head gear on that moose.Or do Newfie moose not have any.If so how do you tell they are bulls.

Look closely...you will see two small nubs on the bulls head..It's a young bull, probably less than 2 years old, this one doesn't have any growth yet...and if no head gear...Well..how do you tell a male horse from a female..etc..etc..also, the "vulva" patch on the rear end will indicate a cow, no vulva patch, you got a bull...Our moose have antlers...not as big as the mainland cousins, but averaging 40" wide with 15 or so points...We do produce bulls with 50" spreads..and NL does have Alaskan/Yukon size moose...they show themselves from time to time..just gotta be one of the lucky ones to catch a glimpse or get a shot..

Congrats! Looks like you had agreat hunt and I love the idea that you take your hunt camp with you. Great job on the quarting of the moose and wrap job with the cheese cloth.

The camp isent mine I had a lone of it for the hunt but its the gear bunks stove and sink what more could you ask for plus it's a lot better then $100 a night at the motel.

18V makita reciprocating saw and a pruning blade makes quick work of quarting
