First kill with my AR

But, but, but... a person can't hunt with an AR. I mean, it just can't be done, how does that even work?? :p

Really tho, cool pictures. Looks like a lot of fun :)

i remember the good ole days before kim campbell i hunted lots of varments with my colt delta hbar ar 15 platform but then one morning i woke up and was told that it is now restricted and had to have the mag neauterd to 5 rounds and i could only use it at an approved range but thank god for that now its safe and hasent killed one baby since

fyi, if you really want to hunt with your AR, just put it on a Form 6NIA and take it down to the US. Plenty of states let you hunt with an AR...

how about we grow a set of balls up here in canada and get some laws changed and just use any gun we want my tavor or ar or even my ak 47 rifles i used to own before all the bull#### laws came about never hurt anybody when i was allowed to use them in the bush

honestly how many people were killed in canada with a hk g3 or 91 or an ak type rifle or ar 15 before they all became restricted or prohibited such in the case with the ak platform and most of the heckler and koch line i really need to know a number because iam guessing the number is probably 0 i know that i have hunted with all the above mentioned firearms and none of them has ever killed anyone and i highly doubt that the other legally owned ones in canada has either next time the government wants to ban something saying its unsafe let them show us the number of lives lost here due to people owning certain things before we allow them to #### us all over, remember this the squeaky wheel gets the grease people so lets make some noise while we have the conservatives in power or any other government for that matter

Ok, well why don't you just go ahead and lead the charge then, Geronimo?

Talk is cheap...

easy i was one of the ones on parliment hill when they started all this dam mess we just dident have the numbers all iam saying is we need to get the word out there again and start geting new shooters into the fun guns you know who the biggest complainers are that i bring to the range to try my ar tavour and others that i own its the women that complain the most that they cant dump a 30 round mag down range they think its ####ed even had a few try to talk me into takeing a rivet out and letting them go have some fun with it but is that not ironic that the laws that were made supposedly to protect the women seem to piss off women the most

OP looks like Micheal Cera, or is it just me? I expect to see Jonah Hill jump out in a Kangaroo suite and get shot (alla Bill Murray in Zombieland, priceless).

I have hesitated to say this as I know people are just going to go nutz but the only thing I found wrong about hunting with your AR is.... you shot a baby kangaroo....

Couldn't you have shot a bigger one? I couldn't justify shooting a baby deer but a wallaby? I will give you the shooter (beavis m305) credit and praise for being able to strike a small target (you didn't quite say how far away the wallaby was) but nonetheless required skill for such a small target.

I know nothing about kangaroos and wallabys, maybe this species or this different breed doesn't grow very big?

This little guy (girl actually) is a pretty average size for this species. We have a larger species which lives in the South Island high country. It was about 30m away when I shot it. I spooked it and had to carefully stalk down a small ridge while my mate kept tabs on its position for me. The chest area is a very small target on these, and like I said, once they get moving they are very hard to keep track of.

In response to questions about our laws: I'm only allowed seven rounds in a mag on my standard license, while my mate has an endorsed firearms license and has his SLR registered as a "military style semi auto" - comparable to a restricted in Canada. He was rolling 20 round mags. And yes suppressors are legal over here - no special paper work required. The anti's over here don't seem to have ever kicked up a stink over them.

And don't worry, we have equally stupid gun laws, our freedoms get eroded quite easily.

There isn't a lot of meat on these things, and the one I shot was pretty munted

Please tell me you didn't have 30 rounds in that mag.

The only thing that could have made this story worse is if you'd used a suppressor.

sorry i had to put up this pic when i read your post

if it makes you feel better it's not sighted for the suppressor (i have to start over with the reloads and work up load for use with the suppressor)

Beavis 305,
Can you explain the process your mate went threw to get that endorsement. Is it rifle specific or a general license?
This does not seem like our restricted rifles as we are not aloud to hunt with any restricted rifles.

Thanks for the info

standard A category license allows for any rifle with the exception of pistols and collectors pieces (full auto artillery mortars etc) they can own a semi auto (self loading) rifle or shot gun as long as it does not have any one or more of these features:

• Folding or telescopic butt

• Magazine that holds, or has appearance of holding, more than 15 cartridges for .22 rimfire

• Magazine that holds, or has appearance of holding, more than 7 cartridges for others

• Bayonet lug

• Free standing military style pistol grip (the grip on Beavis 305's AR is not military pattern)

• Flash suppresser

any semi auto centre fire with any one or more of the above is a restricted weapon requiring a E catagory endorsed license. ( Pistols are a B catagory)

to get the E cat there are only two ways:
1 working for the Government in the animal control area (goat and deer culling) 2. be a member of a gun club that uses them. you need 2 referees in addition to the 2 from your standard license these 2 must all ready have the same endorsement as the one you are applying for and have known you for more than 2 years (you only tend to find these people in the two places stated above) and you must up grade your security to a safe with a 6mm steel wall thickness with to diferently keyed locks which has 2 10mm or thicker bolts going into concrete or 2 of the same going into a steel plate under the floor the plate must be greater in surface area than the floor of the safe the bolts must be welded to the nuts under it and the nuts to the plate also 2 10mm bolts or screws into the wall studs behind the safe.

do that and you can have anything in any configuration so long as it is not select fire.

on the application it asks "what do you want the endorsed license for" we fill this in with everything we can think of including, sports shooting, service rifle, target shooting, plinking, animal control and hunting E cat you can take hunting but it is a offence for anyone with out the correct endorsement to handle a E endorsed firearm (handle meaning touch one) where as Pistols and A cat arms may be handled and used by anyone so long as under direct supervision of someone with the correct class of license Pistols can not be use out side of a designated pistol range
