I have been looking around for a 28" or longer .22. The only one I have seen is the CZ Ultra Lux. These are hard to find and the one I saw for sale a while ago has sold.

Does anybody know of something I may have overlooked? Most gun makers only go to 24" as their longest barrel in a .22.

Thanks

Whats the reason for wanting such a long barrel? After about 21", added length really only serves to add length and weight to the firearm, but conveys little benefit to accuracy or velocity. I doubt you'll find anything that isn't a custom job at that length.

I'm familiar with the CZ model you are after and from what I know, these seem to be more popular or available in the USA then they are here.
From other postings on this site it seems to me that folks at Prophet River one of our sponsers, are able to procure firearms from U.S. dealers or sellers and bring them into Canada.
I think this may be your best bet, perhaps you can try giving them a call.

I just want it as something to play with subsonic ammo and for pests around the barn. I have a 24" barrel CZ Lux and have always wondered what a 28" version would sound like.

Thanks, I might do that.

Ah, didn't expect that. Certainly an interesting experiment, the report should be somewhat quieter, but I've no idea how much. Best of luck to you!

The long barrel provides for an exceptionally long sight radius which equals great accuracy potential. With the CZ 452 Ultralux fitted with the highly recommended BRNO/CZ Standard Match Sights, the sight radius is an incredible 33 1/2 inches from the aperture to the front globe. The long barrel does reduce the noise and with sub-sonic rounds it is extremely quiet. Even with the long barrel, the Ultralux shoulders well but is more of a target rifle than a field rifle.

The 22lr TC prohunter barrels are 28" long. Maybe not what you are looking for but just thought I would mention it.

I didn't know that, thanks for the info!

Epps has a .22 barrel but the cost of that plus the rifle is a bit more than I was looking to spend. You do get two guns in one so that is pretty cool. :)

Another thing I came across today is that Green Mountain makes a 28" barrel for the Ruger 10/22. I do know of a place that sells Green Mountain barrels so maybe I could get one of the barrels brought in and build up a 10/22. This could be a fun winter project.

I use cci cb longs around the yard for pest control and when they are fire in a 27" cooey 75 the are less audible than your standard spring 177 pellet rifle. They chrony at 550 fps and the cb shorts (a little louder) at 710 fps. The longs will still cleanly go through a squirrel and I use the on chickens when I'm deer hunting so things don't get scared off. Also try winchester dynapoints as I've found that they are almost as quiet as the rem subsonics but a lot cheaper.
