CZ UB announces the creation of IPSC Team CZ Canada

This is huge for Canadian shooters, and the shooting sports in Canada as a whole to get a company like CZub sponsor a shooting team. I wish I was a good enough of a shooter to apply, but nonetheless I am happy to own several CZ's, shoot and compete with them, and recommend them to others. This could lead into something big with hopefully other manufacturers following suit. Hats off to CRAFM and to CZ for recognizing the shooting talent in Canada, as obviously there is talent to go along with the market, otherwise they would be looking elsewhere.

Don't sell yourself short...I have seen you run that Open 9major,...you heat that sucker up!

That would be great if other manufacturers followed suit!:agree:

Wow! This is very cool. I don't own a cz or shoot ipsc (idpa is my game and I play it poorly lol) but I can see this is a fantastic thing for all canadian shooters. Hats off to all involved. What a great day for canadian sport shooting! Who knows, maybe things like this will one day mean they can talk about us sport shooters in the same breath as the "hunters and farmers" as respectable gun owners!

I just wanted to express my appreciation for CZ, CRAFM and their involvement in the sport. Best of luck to the chosen competitors! Coming from a guy who is still waiting for his PAL/rPAL approval, so 0 self-interest in this post

+1

Whatever happened to, "ìf you have nothing good to say, shut the #### up..."

This is a great step forward for shooting sports in Canada, and yet some people feel they have to rain on the parade.

Good on CRAFM and CZ!!

.....and right on queue, as is typical of the Canadian IPSC mindset, out come all the sarcastic, back-handed, passive-aggressive smarmy insults that pretty much guarantee we'll all shoot ourselves in the face and loose any chance of real industry support in this country. The sad thing is that it really doesn't take any extra effort to be positive on occasion, or gracious, or just say thank you, or congratulations, or just say nothing at all if you can't offer anything meaningful.

I get it; if it's not ST/VI it's crap, right? Way to crap in every one else's cornflakes guys. Well done!

Yeah it is fun, and I have fun doing it lol! I might have to see if CZub will get me an open top in 9mm for my new Tactical Sport:D

Kind of surprised not so see something on the IPSC Canada website, unless I overlooked it somewhere. I shot the Tactical Sport in Standard for several years, excellent gun right out of the box. The trigger is awesome for a factory trigger, if you haven't tried one, you should.

Anybody know what is expected from a sponsored shooter. I'm thinking along the lines of if they expect someone to give up their job and shoot and compete full time, or work a full time job during the week, and practice and compete around that,.... like normal people. Just curious.

A employee would be on salary, and could afford to do that....I think most if not all Shooters in Canada are weekend shooters only...with a few getting sponsored products, etc. I am not that familiar with the CZ Open gun, but the tactical sport and Shadow work well from what I have seen.

There are very, very few sponsored shooters in the world who shoot full time for pay. Most get income from real jobs, from teaching or they may work full time for a gun company but have to actually hold down a job there and shooting is only a small part of it. A smart shooter who get sponsored on a package like CZ is offering will then leverage it to get sponsorship from other companies, for example approach a bullet company and say "I'm on team CZ, if you'd like to sponsor me too your logo will be on my shirt, videos etc" then any time that shooter shows up in CZ literature, the secondary sponsors do to. If you connect enough sponsors, bullets, brass, powder, sights, holsters and gun you essentially shoot for free. You may not make money but it doesn't cost much either. But it also means you are always "on" and representing your sponsors and that will probably require attendance to other than shooting events like Sportsman show, SHOT show or other trade shows (and don't think "yay, I get to go to SHOT for free" it means you work the booth, meet and greet dealers and other folks and you are there pretty much from open to close. If you haven't worked a trade show I'll tell you it can be very exhausting).
But at all times you represent your sponsor and must keep that in mind when our in public or on the Internet. Your actions and words reflect on the sponsor.
Your appearance must be up to sponsor standards too, your team uniform on the range and dress and deportment when off the range (banquets etc.) should be professional.
Bottom line, it's not a free ride, you must represent the company to your best ability through performance and professionalism, it's a job and the sponsor should expect a return on their investment.

Btw, for anyone interested a very good book on getting and maintaining sponsors, or more properly a Marketing Program, read Speed Secrets 5, The Comploete Driver by Ross Bentley. It's aimed towards auto racing careers but everything writen applies equally to shooting support.

Wow, I had you in mind when speaking of positivity and respect.
In one ear and out the other I guess.

"Were I a manufacturer putting together a team to represent my brand, I'd select people of ability who can present themselves -and my brand- in a positive, respectful and sportsmanlike way."

Some people have no sense of humour, those of us who do are able to tolerate and have fun with those who don't :D

Never knew this would turn into such a touchy subject with people , lighten the #### up.

Frank and CZ are stepping up to setup a CZ-Canada team , and now everybody who runs a CZ or thinks they are great is creaming their pants to be on the CZ team. Somehow this is off limits for the wise-asses to comment on? Puh-leez, get over yourselves

They don't call him "Mongo" for nothing...lol

:agree:

Reality check, CZ has been the hot ride in Production for awhile, if CZ wants a Standard/Open who can run up at the top of the results guess what? They will have to get someone who isn't shooting one at the moment, so the remarks that people find off-colour are actually perfectly true to the situation.
For whatever the reasons may be, CZ is not the choice of Standard or Open shooters in Canada, its just a fact, why? who knows, availability, personal preference, capacity outside of Canada, any of those reasons are vaild ones that don't knock the Quality of their product, it just isn't getting used at the moment.

"positivity and respect" what was negative or disrespectfull? Oops, I forgot that you were the only one allowed to make smart ass posts "Make sure each team member knows which fork to use for the soup."

I started shooting S?I guns way back when Tanfoglio/EAA 9x21's were on the way out. I had considered buying one when I bought my first open gun, but a good deal came up on a Tripp frame and I couldn't resist.

I really did consider applying for the team for a little while, but rejected the idea for a number of reasons, most of which were personal, unrelated to my STI and in no way had anything to do with CZ as a company, the firearm or CRAFM.

I don't think anybody in Canada is so attached to their open gun that they couldn't pick up another one and be running back up to speed within a year with the right time and practice. I hope they get some good applications from both Standard and Open shooters; I'd like to see a strong CZ Canada team out there next year.
