looking to try a new coyote killling load with very little pelt damage, Been using 22 250 55 gr spitzer boattail Sierra loaded with 34 grains of H4895, in my savage heavy barrel. Seem to work well, tryed the hornady ok as long as you dont hit a bone then eekkk one useless coyote pelt.

If you have been having good results with the Sierra/H4895 combo I would just stick with it as dead is dead and it sounds like the pelts are fine. Change calibers if you want to see the difference between dead and dead at different velocities and ranges.

I like the 40g Nosler b-tip they are crazy fast, accurate and very lethal on a yote.......

I use em with Benchmark or H-322 but that's in my .223 !!

We've been loading my buddies 22-250 with the same bullets (55 sbt) using a stiff load of xbr 8208. Velocity is just on the other side of 3800 fps. Cant wait to try it out on the coyotes now.

I'm looking at developing some 50gr Barnes varmint grenade loads for my Swiss... I'll advise when I'm done. I'll also try my 60gr Hornady V-Max loads on some yotes and report back.

My black special did not take kindly to 60 gr v max's at all. I think it had trouble stabilizing them.

It did like the 55 gr sierra sbt's though. Benchmark and varget worked well, but varget always won out due to velocity as well as its cool burning nature.

I'm going to be running some 75gr V-Max at about 3600-3700fps in a rifle Mystic is working on for me. I wonder if it will do any pelt damage.

I use 50 grain vmax over 35 grains of H4895 in my browning Abolt22-250. half inch groups at 100 yrds. Same round with 36 grains of varget shows similar results.Sorry can't comment on pelt damage yet.Hopefully I'll have experience with coyote pelt damage right after deer season ends;)
