so i have an 870- express and when i cleaned it after a day at the range i found a slight burr or nick or something. its on the top of the hull, right where the top of the bolt slides in and out.

also my 870 was jamming after about 125 rounds, im pretty sure it was a combo of the cheap winchester ammo and the gun being dirty.

Here is a picture of the nick in the metal.

any help is appreciated.

dude... its an 870... clean it all up, count the nick as a battle scar and move on with your life knowing your gun will always fire....lol

so it is just something that happens? thanks for the input i just didnt want to have a dangerous gun and let my friends shoot it if there was a chance of a major failure.

That mark is from the top of the bolt making contact with the receive nothing to worry about .my 870 has a mark in the exact same place .I have been shooting mine since 1989 and the mark hasn't gotten any worse.

exactly what i wanted to hear.

thanks a bunch man.

Just part of the wearing in process. It'll cycle smoother now since that piece of metal has been removed from the bolt's path.
