Vz58 ar mags are here!

Just got a couple of questions...
Why is there a need for this?
What is wrong with the stock mag's?
10 rounds are better than 5 I got it.

guys, please clear this one for me. Is it possible to use XCR 7.62 magz with this adapter.

Sure, the mags will fit just like any AR mag.

The larger questions are:

1) Will the adapter, designed for the current 5.56 CSA's, work in the 7.62 guns.
2) If so, how extensively do you have to mod the adapter or the receiver?

The 5.56 mag well is not the same size as the 7.62. North Sylva's info sheet says the adapter won't drop-in to the early model 5.56's without receiver mods.

Don't expect to buy an adapter, drop it into your 7.62, and head out to the range.

as longest you got the rifle within the last 2 years, u should be ok on the 5.56 models

That's a pretty bizarre statement considering the CSA guns have been in Canada less than a year.

Have you read any of the info North Sylva has provided?

I have CSA in 7.62, so I guess it will not work then. Would love to use AR15 style magz on cz

That picture definitely looks like that adapter won't work at all with the 858. :(

Still, looking forward to the report on how it works with LAR mags, there might be a less plasticy sporting rifle in the sub $1000 range here...

Although I'm waiting for one of the dealers to chime in and confirm whether or not these adapters will fit in the 7.62x39 rifles I did come across this picture on a Czech site that I have ordered a few specialized parts from.

By the looks of it, they appear to fit in 7.62x39 rifles unless they took a .223 rifle and shoved a 7.62 mag in it.

That is awesome

I would be interested to see how far the LAR-15 mags are going to stick out..looks like the might seat almost flush in that mag well adapter, so some Ranger plates or tacti-pulls might be a must with these.

Interesting dust cover, where did you get it and will it fit the 858?

The rifle in the picture is not actually mine. The picture was taken from an accessory supplier in the Czech Republic that I have ordered from in the past. They have some very specialized accessories for the CZ858 line of rifles so I assume it will fit the rifles available here in Canada.

Check 'em out at www.sa58.cz

From the pics on the website the other side of the dust cover has a locking lever on it which I presume is to tighten it to the receiver to minimize (maybe even eliminate?) loss of zero. From what I've seen of them they look quite robust. I would hazard to guess that they would be on par with a NEA top handguard rail for holding zero.

PS: Still hoping a dealer can confirm whether or not those adapters will fit the 7.62x39 rifles :p

I got this email from them:
