I want to buy an AR. There are so many brands.

What brand would you recommend? Best value? I dont want to pay top dollar for big names, but I dont want to buy china #### either..

Thanks

STI. 16" stainless medium contour barrel, free floating light weight full length handguard, JP trigger, 223 wylde chamber, 1/8 twist, smooth bolt. And all for 1500ish canuck bucks. The same setup in a custom build would cost nearly double.

hows that st spider compared with the stag arms ?

Stag arms is usa made?

I want to make sure I get something good, I really dont want to cheap a bit and end up with crap. I'll get only one ar, not 2...

Stag is made in the USA, So is Spikes Tactical
Stag quality is well known, So is Spikes Tactical
Stag pricing...not so well liked. Spikes price well liked.

Spikes gives a Rifle of the same Quality (if not better in some cases) with added features for less money.

That particular model from Questar includes ,ST-T2 Buffer,Magpul CTR Stock,Magpul MOE Pistol Grip and a Magpul P-Mag - about $150 in extras.

That Rifle is a steal. There was a time a few years ago when Short barrels were non-existent and commanded a stupid high price, ($1600-$1800).
Now here we are with a Top Teir High Quality Rifle for $1200 with Magpul extras. Crazy I say!

I would snap it up.

With both of my custom builds I used Spikes Tactical lowers (actually one was a matched billet set). The fit/finish is excellent...parts go together nicely without issue or "fitting". An all around great product. If I hadn't just built my wifes I'd probably be snapping up one of those shorties (but I did recommend it to my son who's looking for his first AR).

Don't discount the Remington R15 if you can get past the camo. I don't do much run and gun type stuff and shoot rifles mostly off a bench so I wanted a longer heavier barrelled AR that was capable of shooting tight groups. Mine shot MOA with factory stuff, which is impressive for a $1000 AR. Mine was more accurate than any other AR in that price range I have ever had experience with.

The Spikes Tactical at Questar is a really good deal though.

So is the NEA, but you will be waiting awhile.

How is the PWS stuff? They look good, come with some nice furniture (re: magpul stuff) and is piston driven. Price doesn't seen too high either. Any thoughts on that manufacturer?

is it possible to put a quad rail to this upper once purchased? Im not very familiar with AR's but definitely interested :)

Yes...pull off the handguards and add the quad rail...or you could go the harder route of free floating...more effort but can also be done.

Like Mentioned above.
There are Quad Rails that replace the standard hand guards. You just swap them out and drop them in. Easy Peasy:p
Troy Ind. is popular

You can more involved by removing the Front Sight Post and Delta Ring and installed one of many fine Quad rails that attach to the barrel nut. This free floats the barrel - no contact points presumably increases accuraccy, not sure if this is true more for 16"-20" than the 7"-10".

Daniel Defense and Troy are common
