I've had a lot of Marlins apart, and have never seen that piece. Is it possible that the front trigger guard screw engages it?

I don't know. I just got this gun yesterday. I have not fire it...only cleaned it.

the stock is wood painted black....

not sure if the white screw is original or not... seems not...

keep helping me ... :D

Im no expert, but i've taken my 70pss apart a few times, and i've never seen that part before. That said i don't think it beongs with the lower action, could it fit in to the stock area somehow to hold up the trigger guard assembly? the hole in the middle looks like it accepts a screw of some sorts and the lower action hangs from the top action by hooking in and being pinned, and is not screwed to the stock.

The screw in the stock is not original, the nut may cause a malfunction.

I've also had a lot of these apart and I don't recognize that part. A word of caution, if that part was in there then someone may have been trying to make a full-auto. Check for parts that have been modified. When you function test, no ammo, #### the action and pull the trigger to "fire" the gun. Keep holding the trigger to the rear, cycle the action (don't baby it"), release the trigger and pull the trigger to "fire" again. If it does not fire then modifications may have been made. If it does fire then proceed to using ammo, but just 2 or 3 at a time till you are satisfied with the results.

Here is a schematic; NUMRICH

this is very strange....

I jut assemble the gun without that part and it seem good. but I haven't' fire it.

funny I took a picture of the action while I was taking it down ( because I ran into trouble many time before....) here is the original picture. I got the gun like this:

that frinking part was in there....

at the time I thought it was a fix part.. but when I washed the receiver it fell down...

ho well.... :jerkit:

QUESTION: is it normal that the bolt never stays open on the 70HP, even on an empty mag?

@ Lodi , the test shows no modifications... the trigger fires
