Hey im thinking about gittin' a shorty shotgun. I like the looks of the DAG and would probably go for the one without the mag for its carryability. Are these as reliable as an 870? I know good stuff can be made in china is this an example?

its one of the best examples of china copying, cant go wrong. just dont get the 780 homeland security norinco.

Other things to consider is that with the 8.5", and the 18.5" models, you cant interchange the barrels from another 870

hmm...so no rust issues? I had a norinco m1a and the thing loooooved to rust. I can get an old wingmaster for that price hmmm....

You can't buy a used wingmaster and set it up with ghost ring sights and a short barrel for anywhere close to the price of these :) One of these is on my short list

Rust is a matter of climate and maintenance in my opinion.

They don't have the most scuff resistance finish. I haven't had any rust issues but I store it away free of moisture and oiled.
If the finish ever bothers you it's pretty cheap to paint it with a good gun paint.

the key with parkerizing is to use a thick goopy lube on them and never clean it with strong solvents. I mix up thick grease with paste wax and kroil. let it soak in and wipe off the excess then maintain it by wiping with a light coat of oil. Don't use brake cleaner or acetone etc to clean it.

ghosts rings I can do without- youre right though 350+150 for a barrel- and thats a dominion arms barrel not a dlask.

Don't mean to hijack, but does anyone know the length of the barrel of the DA grizz with mag? and where I may purchase one?

Thanks.

so does anyone know, if a guy were to buy addon goodies, ie folding stock or formarm grips off the net for an 870 if they will fit the d.a. grizzly? its ubber hard to find goodies that are listed for the d.a. and nobody has them in stock when you do find them!!

I bought my Grizzly two summers ago brand new for less than $300 and I haven't looked back... it's a GREAT piece of kit.

The cheap picatinny rail came off the top as soon as I took it outta the box and this last summer I put the ATI stock on. There might be a few little things I'll add, but as it is - it's a perfect little addition to camping, fishing or quad trips here in Central BC.

I didn't worry about it getting scuffed or marred as it is a constant companion... until my good friend, Dan O'Sullivan from Elkridge Saddlery in Cranbrook, made a great scabbard for me... I'll post a picture of it next week...

Anyway... here it is...

My Griz 8.5" just arrived today... I'm impressed with how substantial it feels. I thought it would be light and 'cheap' but it's the opposite. It loads and feeds [dummy rounds] perfectly, but it won't get fired until after Xmas [now it gets wrapped up and will live under the tree until Xmas morning... :( ]
