Hello,

I am looking around for which dealers have the best priced shooter grade Russian SKS with included ammunition as a package, or for the most inexpensive over all cost for one rifle and ammunition (800-1200 rounds)

Also, what are the makes and models of drill and tap scope mounts for the SKS?

I live in Alberta, so the closer the better for shipping cost!

Cheers,
Drachenblut

I cant help with package deals but there are a few site sponsors who have free shipping on various cases/crates of ammo. As for d&t mounts the Choate is made specifically for the SKS and available from hical.ca and sksman dot com to name a few. There is also the BC Tactical scout mount that is no gunsmith and holds zero quite well though limits you to a micro red dot. Have a look through the SKS Optics sticky, pretty much every mount ever made for the SKS is discussed in there. As for good SKS's Ive bought from westrifle with excellent results, weimajack gets great reviews.

Westrifle takes 2-3 business days to get your rifle. Shipping is about 25 bucks. Dont waste your time with scopes n mounts. SKS is not a sniper rifle and unless you have a serious eye/tard problem where you can't shoot open sights, a scope won't improve much for the cost. If you're just learning to shoot, this is the rifle, and ammo for a good price.

Lever arms has Russian refurb's for a $199.00. Their Ammo is $195.00 for 1200 rounds of surplus. If you don't mind a brand new old stock Chinese military SKS I think Marstar has the best Rifle and ammo package $354.00 for rifle and 1400 rounds of ammo. The Chinese SKS's are just as good or better as a Russian refurb in my opinion plus they are brand new.

i hate to support LeBaron but they have a Russian SKS for 199 ithink and their 1200 round RUSSIAN MFS box for cheaps too 139 ? Sorry dont remember the prices but that would be another option.

Marstar has a deal on right now. If you purchase a box of 1400 rounds, you get the SKS for $75. Makes the shipping price debate to Alberta moot.

Got nothing to do about a debate it was a question, Some times a great deal isnt a great deal when you tack on shipping is all I am simply asking.

When I bought just a Chicom SKS by itself from Marstar, shipping was in the $40 range to western Alberta. You have to remember that they need to pay an employee to box up the rifle and deliver it to the post office and all so its not as cheap as a private sale. Now with the cost of shipping the ammo on top of that it could potentially be a deal breaker so yeah, its important. I would just give marstar a call and ask for a shipping quote to Alberta. I'm sure theyve shipped a few package deals by now and can give you a good idea what it costs. I know it would be cheaper than buying local for me as the only price Ive found for 1400 rds. of Russian is $400. On a side note, has anyone fired much of the Russian surplus ammo? Is it is dirty as the Czech stuff?
