Can anyone tell me what I have here?

I have a little .22 here. My dad handed it down to me, who was given it by his mom, who got it from her brother after he died of leukemia when he was around 20 yrs old. Other than that, I have no real history on it. There are no markings on it, other than "Sport .22 LongRifle". I think it could be a Cooey, or some off-shoot of one. Anyone know much about these little buggers? Any help would be appreciated

It looks like a cooey ace. Cooey did make a Bisley sport although I have no idea what they look like or how they would have been marked.

Yeah, I searched Google images and the Cooey Ace looks identical, but where mine is marked "Sport" the pics that turned up show they are marked "Ace". I was kinda wondering if it was a Bisley Sport, but couldn't find a pic of one to compare with. Thanks tho, Farlsincharge!

No it is not a Bisley Sport. The sport you have is a specific Cooey small boy's rifle from around 1926. Although called the sport, it is very similar to the Ace.

I have had one just like it and seen many more like it..It is a copy of the Ace but may have been stamped for a specific store brand.

Thanks gunsaholic. Do you know what other bolts fit it? Mine is not pulling the spent shells out, the extractor claw seems to be slipping off the rim. Perhaps it's just the ammo I'm feeding it.

I just re-finished one very similar but it was spamped "Eatonian" for my grampa. Very nice little .22. The extractor is not removable, so its either a new (used) bolt, or a great cleaning. I found the great cleaning worked for grandpa's that was doing the same

Start with a good cleaning, especially at the chamber. Growing up, my 22 saw 1000's of shorts as they were the cheapest, you may just have a little lead buildup (or crud) in your chamber, thus a fired LR cartridge sticks to the chamber wall. That was the issues mine had years later when LR ammo was the least expensive to purchase.

Sometimes extractors can be tweaked a bit too.

I had an old single shot cooey that did the same, and it had some crud built up around the extractor.

Eatonia was the store brand name for Eatons before they changed it to Ranger. From info I have ,the Sport was a specific Cooey model, not made for a particular store. I also agree with the others, soak the bolt in mineral spirits or some type of cleaner. Also make sure there is no build up where the rim of the shell seats against the throat of the chamber and make sure the chamber itself is clean. Maybe use a bore brush and give the chamber a real good cleaning. A different brand of ammo could also make a difference. Failing that, I am guessing the bolts out of the Ace models would fit but they aren't that plentiful either.
