Sig SRT upgrade, is it worth it?

Well, I try to only take a position on something if I have researched the answer and know the outcome.

My posts are all designed to achieve one of two goals: humour through sarcasm, or general advancement of the collective knowledge base. So if I'm presenting some factual information, it's because I've looked in to the subject, found out the answer, and think the information is potentially useful to people.

I try as much as possible to remove all ego from any argument I present. It doesn't always work but generally I only want to argue if I think it will benefit the audience.
 
I'm the opposite.

I try to only post about things I know nothing about, and make sure the posts are filled with misinformation, arrogance and condescension
 
I installed the SRT kit about 6 months ago into my NP22 (Norc P226 knock off). It really does make the difference. After a while you tend to forget...but I recently acquired a P226 Blackwater and it doesn't have the SRT in it. Yikes...I really have got to source another kit for this one. That reset being that much longer isn't so cool. So would I recommend it...heck ya!

You can test out the SRT effect on a non-SRT 226.

Just take off the slide, pull the trigger, keep the trigger at full pull, then push the tab down on the right hand side of the frame while you #### the hammer. Now, when you let the trigger out, it will reset at the SRT point.

Personally I think the SRT is awesome...IMO it is the only unqualified improvement SIG has made in a long time.

Both the SRT and the E2 grips I think are the biggest major improvements to the sig lineup.

And the CPO program which IMO is very smart.

Got a good deal on an SRT kit on EE ($110 shipped) and installed it tonight. All I can say is Wow! It was worth every cent, the reset is pretty much as short as you could get it on a Sig, and, being that I 'ride the reset' when I shoot, its all but eliminated the pre-travel/slop in the Sig trigger in single action. Anybody who is used to shooting Glocks or 1911's (both of which I have) should consider this upgrade a must, itll give you a trigger reset your much more accustom too. Thanks to all who gave their input and helped my decision.

Saw that as well. Most definitely worth getting. I was hesitant to spend 100+ dollars on a basically just a sear, but I would recommend it to anybody now that Ive tried it.
 
Also, maybe worth mentioning, I installed the SRT in a W.German Sig dated '84 (JE). So anybody wondering if the SRT will work in the older Sigs, it does, no issues.

Seeing the prices on private sales for the SRT kit had me a little appalled, so I tracked down a few individuals through sigforum willing to ship them to Canada. Several said it was no problem, for about half the going price on the EE. But hey, if a Canadian dealer carries them, then that's even better!

tactical cowboy, new dealer. but dont expect to pay much less than the EE
 
I had the opportunity to shoot one of the RCMP ERT teams Sig SRT's at the range last month. Now I know the SIG platform is a tried and true firearm and works well for it's intended use but I have to say I wasn't impressed. The trigger was heavy and long compared to my CZ 85 Combat and M&P. I am sure with practice and more rounds down range I would get used to it but I wouldn't trade either of my guns for it even up. The SRT maybe an improvement over the existing SIG trigger but it sure doesn't compare with either of my well tuned CZ or M&P's.

I am not saying there is anything wrong with the SIG but for playing the games in my view there are better platforms out there. I am not so sure for general police work there aren't better ones as well. The gun though certainly has it's followers and there is nothing wrong with that either.

Better is a bit subjective. I've won more than one match simply because my 'less than ideal Sig' kept ticking while a 'well tuned CZ' broke down and cost it's owner a stage or two.

I dropped an SRT kit into my circa '95 226 last summer - Fantastic.
