Reloading 9mm Truncated Cone Boolits

Was wondering if there is a specific way to load cast boolits that are tumble lube truncated cone?
Most information I have found deal with round nose cast boolits , but haven't found much dealing with truncated nose boolits.
The pistol I am loading for is a Ruger P89DC 9mm and boolit mold is a Lee TL356-124-TC .
Mainly I am wondering about OAL and powder charge as compaired to round nose cast boolits.
Any information would be greatly appreciated!
 
take the OAL for a RN in the same weight. Subtract the RN bullet length than add the TC bullet length. There you have your OAL

I load the same bullet for the same pistols:D

I do not concern myself with OAL. I seat deep enough, so that the bullet shoulder just barely shows above the case mouth.

Adjust crimp to straighten the case wall only, then turn in the seat/crimp die body (3-die set) 1/8 turn or the FCD top adjustment knob .

Zero FTF with my P89s and Glock 17rtf.

Powder charge is 3.6 grains Universal. I resize to .357 to eliminate keyholing, YMMV. Keyholing could be dependent on hardness of lead alloy used as well as bullet/bore diameter.

If I increase powder to 3.9 Universal, I get keyholing. This load cycles my pistols and quite accurate, but it is a reduced load.

BTW, my other bullet is a commercial 124 grain Round Nose with single lube groove and I could load 4.2 grains Universal with no keyholing and good accuracy as well.

If you experience keyholing, just reduce your powder charge by increments of 5%, until keyholing stops. Hopefully your pistol will still cycle then.

My buddy loads 3.6 grains BullsEye with the same heads. Accurate and cycles his CZ75.

Used 3.6grs Bullseye and tried 10 rounds seated at 1.10in and 10 rounds seated at 1.130in. Both shot very good groups and neither showed signs of excessive pressure on cases.

Shot some 124gr TC cast this weekend with 4.0grs titegroup, worked great and the shape does not have that troublesome shoulder that the cast RN has.
