35 Remington bolt action

Remington Model 7 and Model 30 Express.

Are you sure about the Model 30 Express?
At the end of WW1 Remington had a bunch of P17s left over. They sporterized them, cutting down the original stock, cut the barrel to 22 inches and mounted a Lyman 48 aperature sight, and a front sight with a gold bead, high enough to work with the aperature.
These rifles were stamped, "30 EXPRESS."
The worst feature was the cut down military stock. Wrapping your hand around the wrist, which is the usual way to shoot, often resulted in a bloody nose!

There was one, a really nice piece on a table at the Kamloops Gun Show a couple years ago..... I know because I gathered up my rupees, went back to buy it and alas it were gone.... :(

Sooo now I'm going to get one built on a really nice pre-64 Win.

What are you going to use for a donor action?

Just wondering because the 35 Rem has a .460" rim. A common .473" bolt face might work, but it might be a bit sloppy too.

I'm thinkin' about a rifle that is currently a 280 ?
My present 35 is a 104 yr. old Rem. Mod. 8 in beautiful shape, wears a Lyman aperture sight and believe it or not will consistently shoot 1.3" groups with its pet load.
Amazing more so because these old cannons were not known for very good accuracy.
I also have a 358 Win. and a 35 Whelen, but for close range shots under 150 yds. and much less the old 35 Rem. packs more than adequate wallop and a person can eat right up to the bullet hole....

X2 Ben!

The 336 marlins in 35 Remington can be wonderful shooters.

Some hunting stores though, look at you like you grew 2 extra arms when you ask them about it. I even had a salesman argue with me that Marlin doesnt make it any more!
Its just a highly under rated caliber in this country.

Why not get a Marlin 336 in .35, even a slightly used one made by Marlin?

Good thought Ben ! I might just do that as I had one about 15 yrs ago.
Killed a few Whitetails and a big old tough as shoe leather Moose with it, loaned it to a friend, he never gave it back, instead signed a blank checque and gave that to me..... I wonder if he ever realized just how much he paid for that old gun..... :D
