Just finished doing a quick comparison between a cylinder choke and an extra-full turkey choke. I'm using my 870 Desert recon with an 18.5" barrel. Shots were taken at 10 yards using Federal bulk #4 shot.

I'm not sure if I'm more surprised at the amount of spread there was with the smooth bore, or how much difference the turkey choke made.

Afterwards I grabbed a slug and did this:

It's cool seeing the bits of pumpkin fall at slow speed.

I just discovered turkey chokes too. I got a ported Carlson choke that I run in both my single shot Backpacker (13" barrel) and my Mossberg 930 (18.5").

I was amazed at the tightness of the patterns and qas quite giddy over the results while on gopher safarii with my backpacker.

I just got my 930 backbored and the pattern is more uniform now too. Recoil is also less.

Its amazing what a few tweaks will do to a shotgun.
