Tikka aluminum bolt shroud

did somebody lower his standards and pick up a Tikka??

The deal on the EE was too good to pass up, about $500 less than the going rate at the local stores, for a NIB Tikka Tactical.:D I am not thrilled with the plastic stock, or the plastic mag and bolt shroud, but it is turning out to be a sub 1/2 moa shooter.:) As well a hunting partner picked up a new Tikka Sporter, and is interested in replacing the shroud.

Flick is the guy to contact. I purchased two from him, one in black, one in SS colour. They are good quality, but are a very slight bit loose in fit. Worth the $ for sure.

Got mine from Flick.

How about that and the bullets don’t even reach the lands when reloading...

If I’m not mistaken didn't you have this rifle up for sale on EE ???

Yes I did have it up for sale. After purchasing it, I ended up with more 223 rifles than I was shooting, so I put a couple of them up for sale. The CZ sold first, so I am keeping this one. As for the bullets not reaching the lands, below are some of my 100 yard groups fired with the 69gr Matchking during load development. The groups were fired at -3 degrees in a breeze, and accuracy doesn't appear to be lacking.

No , obviously not as per stubblejumper’s targets.

I was just being a little sarcastic as per one of stubblejumper’s previous post saying that the Finn’s ( Sako/Tikka ) could learn something from Cooper rifles...

Oh I guess I missed the Cooper comments, and the targets..probably why I didn't know you were being sarcastic.

I don’t mean any disrespect to stubblejumper, I was just having fun with the man. If stubblejumper has a comment it’s because he has had personally experience although he has never replied on my reply to reach the lands with my Sako. No big deal as all rifles may be different....

Sako/Tikka could definitely learn about throating from Cooper.A rifle with a 1 in 8" rate of twist should have a long enough magazine to accommodate almost any bullets that are suitable for use in that rifle, when the bullet is seated near the lands. The 77gr bullets aren't even close to fitting in the Tikka/Sako magazines, loaded near the lands, but with a little filing in the plastic Tikka mag, I can load the 69gr Matchkings to .010" from the lands, and they still fit the magazine. However, with my Sako 85 Varmint Stainless, the magazine is far too short to do the same.
