If you could only have one rifle/scope...

Already got it. Love it. Wont ever part with it. Ruger M77 Tang safety in .308 WIN with a 2x7 Leupold. The PERFECT Ontario hunting rifle.

I have a M700 with Gaillard bbl in an Edge here in 270Win. I'd stick with that with a VXIII 2.5x8 B&C in Talleys.

For most of all hunting here in Canada save big bears, it's perfect.

For me it'd be a Model 70 CRF SS .280 AI in an EDGE stock with a VX3 3.5-10X40 with an M1 dial.

jeez,...that's so close to what I might pick it's scary....I'd lose the turret,...I don't shoot that far.....:D..and I might just get a new FN version in 7 Mag and call it good....

almost forgot, I have a pile of parts over at the 'smith's that very close to what archie described,.....a Pre'64 M70 action, an Edge handle and a #2 Shilen in 7mm, 9 twist,..and I tossed my 280AI reamer in the box too...:D
 
For me there is no better choice than a Scout Steyr 308 mounted by a S&B 1.1 X4 Short Dot, if only one this one... JP.
 
I have a couple of custom jobs, but my favourite is the newest in my locker.

Sako 85 Finnlight in 270WSM, topped with a Swarovski 3-10X42 with German #4 reticle in Swaro Optilocks, and finished off with a Quake Claw Contour sling.

Neither do I yet. But it certainly wouldn't be too bothersome to have it on the scope. Then when the time comes that I can play with it, it would be there :)

Rembo youre quite the 7mm nut. I just received a 7RSAUM. Have you played with them at all?

not all of them yet,..I've played with the 7-08, 7-08AI, 284 Win, 280, 280AI, 7WSM, 7SAUM, 7mm Rem Mag and 7mm STW.....haven't tried the 7 RUM yet,...
 
A 280 or 7x57 would be my fist choice, but since it can only be one gun to serve all purposes I would have to go with a .270 so that I could use it in southern Ontario. Since it's a 270 I would have to have it in a model 70 CRF action. Preferably a stainless featherweight, mounted in an edge stock. As for the scope I would probably choose something like a zeiss conquest 3-9x40
