RONI Glock Carbine conversion kits - Good news!

From what I've seen, there's also some canadian agencies that uses them for active shooter response and security of some High-Value Target's perimeter! ;)

'Agencies' means more than one. And it's also apparently 'from what you've seen'. That means first hand knowledge.

P.S.: Oh, and I personnally know some police officers that owns the Roni, because it fits their duty weapon and their department don't have the budget to give them AR-15s because they are only dedicated to Tactical Units.

You personally know some officers. That again means more than one.

So their Roni is there in their patrol bag, ready 4 action. If Sh*t Hits the Fan, they'll drop their Glock 17, Springfield XD and Sig P226 in there in 5 seconds, ready to engage threats to 50-100 meters! ;)
This is where I've first heard about the Roni! :p

Listing 3 different types of guns once again, means that there are more than one. And which agency in Canada uses the XD?

Let's get it straight ONCE FOR ALL... :D

The agency DON'T ISSUE a plastic shroud for his P226... That's him with his OWN MONEY that bought a Roni G1 to fit his P226 in backup for his primary weapon.

OK, now you're saying let's get it straight, and go on to state that it's one guy with his own money. You're saying something very different from your post that I quoted above.

Which is it? I'm very curious to know which Canadian agencies use or issue this kit.

You should send the FISN guy a non-plastic, non-nylon holster for his Roni...I can't remember who makes them but they fit every gun you can think of.

Absolutely awesome.....

I think it got deleted. Ask wicked police...he can help for sure.

It did unfortunately get moved. I'm happy to say though that I saved a pdf of the page. Which btw, I do with every thread I post in, in case I have to go back for research purposes.
Yeah, that's it..... research.....

Wow. Some of you guys are just...

Lets get one thing straight: I bought these kits for fun. I don't really give a #### if there are agencies or officers that use them or not. Chew on that.

Anyways, I bought a .40 cal Glock 22 today. Paid for it at around 3:00, and the dealer called in and processed the ATT while I was there.
I got home, the dealer called, the ATT was ready. Record timing man. 1.5 hours from purchase, I had to drive back to the store and then I was driving home with my new Gen 4 G22.

I am now going to post the assembly instructions, not that I think anyone really needs it.

I have absolutely nothing against anyone buying one for fun; I have shot glocks with stocks and enjoyed it myself. A G20 with a simple stock is kind of a cool toy.

I only take issue with people pretending that these are in use by the jump-out-of-helicopters-and-kill-bad-guys set, as the promo pics imply.

Tools:

Parts in kit:

P1010025.jpg

Screws included:

P1010026.jpg

Insert muzzle piece from inside, pushing through. Screw in the longest screw to lock it in place. I will call this assemble the muzzle cap for reference.

P1010027.jpg

P1010028.jpg

Shoulder stock parts:

P1010030.jpg

Spare mag holder gets screwed to the back plate through the stock support arm. That long screw is for the adjustable cheek piece, but don't install yet.
(Even though I did in the picute, I had to take it out again)

P1010031.jpg

Top weaver rail gets mounted inside clam shell. Three of the medium screws. Rounded end toward the stock end.

P1010032.jpg

P1010034.jpg

Next, the extendable bar for the extendable shoulder stock. The silver nub end goes in first, with the nub facing up toward the Weaver rail, as shown in the picture above.
Depress the silver nub, insert it the bar (Keeping it centered) and push in till it clicks and stops.

Then screw on the black stopper plate as in the picture, using two medium screws. (This keep the bar from coming out by accident when you extend the stock.)

P1010036.jpg

Stock slides onto Stock bar, and that little oval plate gets screwed into the end of the stock bar with the single, smallest diameter screw. (only screw that size, using a 2mm allen wrench, NOT supplied. Now you line up the stock with the hole in the Stock Bar, and push the Cheek Piece screw through, and put the bolt on.

P1010037.jpg

Now you mount your side weavers. Round end toward the stock, square end towards the muzzle. The Nubs on the weavers will sit in the grooves on the front end of the Muzzle Cap. Those nubs are what stops Muzzle Cap from coming off when you open the brackets to put in/take out the Glock.

BEFORE SCREWING THE WEAVERS ON, make sure you put the Muzzle Cap on the clam shell, as shown in the picture.

P1010041.jpg

Foregrip slides on by pushing the small oval poly button.
The large metal round button is to change position of the foregrip.

P1010042.jpg

Last, the two pins slide into what I will call the Pin Collars.

There are no instructions, so I just figured I would insert them on the port side of the Clam Shell because I shoot right handed, so if they were ever going to work their way out and fall out while I was shooting, I would see them as they started to fall out.

Your call.

P1010043.jpg

That's it.
To put the Glock in or out, pull the pins till they are almost all the way out, then slide the Pin Collars out towards each end, open the Clam Shell, put the gun in/out, close the Clam Shell, slide the Pin Collars in towards the Clam Shell, push in the pins (Can be a pain in the ass) and you're good to go.

I will mention that I have assembled TWO of these now, and I always have two screws left over. Not sure what they are for. They are the two screws that are almost the same as the first one you install into the Muzzle Cap. I do know that you can buy an optional "Brass catcher" that screws onto the side, but I don't think those screws are the right size. Anyone figures it out, let me know please, and I will update this post.

'K...so I've now got the red dot (Tasco $35 good price?) and mounted it, but what manner of sling would these things use? I do see some steel "donuts" that don't seem to have a purpose, is this where a single attachment is to be made? It would have to be a strange sling attachment that I'm not familiar with. Any Roni guys out there? Incidentally, what does the "real" thing weigh in at?

These holes or "steel donuts" as you called them, are for Push Button Sling swivel for quick release on any sling, like Single point Bungee sling or Two points slings...

You can buy one of these Push-Button Sling Swivel at Fabsports:

This is the Sling I got for my Roni:

Yes... And they've tried it in range for their ballistics tests. Both agencies found out that the ballistic (stopping power) wasn't enough and both choose a .223 alternative (PDW). But they still own the Roni's...

I'm a LEO too... So you can add an other one! :p

Glock 17 = Sûreté du Québec (QPP)
Sig 226 = Military Police MP
Springfield XD = Kahnawake Peace Keepers

I've deleted the pictures & informations of the organization, as my friend asked me to get rid of them... I respected his decision. ;)

Dont Roni's have metal inserts inside the shell to dissapate heat and keep it ridgid??

Just asking cuz I saw one on youtube Roni installation so no need to go off the handle everyone.

Here are some targets I meant to post. I was shooting at 20 yards. Kind twitched here and there.

First, bench rested:

Then standing in a combat stance:

They are pretty consistent. I know I need to work on my shooting, so whatever. Just wanted to show these.

I haven't shot the roni, but I did own a HERA for a bit. It was fun, but I found myself rarely shooting it, even for fun. I'd use my pistols and carbines instead. So I sold it.

Now for more questions.....

Yes... And they've tried it in range for their ballistics tests. Both agencies found out that the ballistic (stopping power) wasn't enough and both choose a .223 alternative (PDW). But they still own the Roni's...

But you said this before...

Do they use them for active shooter response/security or did they test and decide not to use them? You've contradicted pretty much everything you've posted in this thread, and then I should believe this?

He asked you to get rid of stock photo's from the internet?
Why?

Buddy, I think you're messing up everything I said.... Ahhhhh Internet... So easy to don't understand each other and argue...

The canadian agencies that I know tried it and found out the ballistics weren't enough to stop threats if they carried body armor...
Some 223 rifles PDW were chosen instead...

And if you don't want to believe what kind of job I do for a living, that's your choice, I really don't care buddy... ;)
Don't really have anything to prove to a person to the other side of the Canada who's not open minded...
Read my posts, you'll see i'm not the kind of person to talk through his hat... I walk the walk when I can do it on internet safely...

Because we are on Internet and CGN is available to anyone with an internet access... That means his bosses but also people who would be interested into getting informations for a future attack... Think for two seconds... It's just normal identity protection. Pictures weren't a big deal, but we don't give bad guys an inch of intel because they will take a foot! ;)

Wicked_police, do Canadian civvy cops use that word?

I think the only ones I know that don't use it are CF...

But there's so much more that was posted that makes me doubt what ever is put up....
