Savage 338 lapua

This is much more appealing to me than the Savage 110BA.
What do you guys think?
Anyone shooting one of these yet?
I'm pretty sure the savage 110 FCP HS Precision will be my next rifle purchase. I've read a few reports that they are shooting sub MOA and in some cases close to .5 MOA.
Does the rifle in the advertisement you have in your post come with the Arma-coat finished already applied to it as the price is 200.00 higher than listed on another CGN supporting dealer website?

I do not know. I just used that pic as I did not have any other. I'm still trying to find out if the Savage 338 lapua actions are different from the savage regular long actions.
I read on one web site that the bolt lugs were strengthened (beefed up), but I have no clue of this is true?
Its a cool looking rifle to me anyway.

Thats a hell of a deal, can't build one for that price. I'll bring a couple in if they are still available from my distributor.
Sean, any idea of the availability of the HS vertical stock for a Savage long action? I think I know a guy with a stevens 300 wm that would be interested in one.
Any idea what bottom metal that is?

Yes, they are slightly different. The bolt lugs did not have to change, they are longer but it did not increase strength. The real difference is the mag port being further back to lengthen the lower lug which does strengthen it. The base holes are 8-40. I have made 338 Lapuas from Stevens actions but this deal is a bargain.
Thanks Rob. I originally read scant details but could not find anything conclusive. I took from what I found that the standard Savage long action (like some other makers actions ) was not ideal for building a 338 lapua from??

Now I don't know what to do, build on my stevens 200 or wait and see what you can do with regard the 338 lapua.

I cant see building one, plus you would get an accutrigger on the savage one.

Not to mention needing to replace the bolt head with the proper one for the Lapua.
I'd prefer a longer barrel for a Lapua but at that price point I can see the attractiveness.

I keep looking at that A3 stock you have but I really like the HS stock you sold me and man does that 338 look good in one.

I've got the hs fully adjustable vertical grip coming soon for Remington's. Where did you buy your lapua bolt head? The metal below is drop in fit on rem bdl inlets. Not the Xl though AFAICT? I am planning on that metal for my next lapua on a rem action. Be nice to be able to source the savage hs stock and metal then spin my own tube on.
As I mentioned in another post, I just purchased the Savage 110FCP HS Precision. I bought it from Frontier Firearms for $1399. Unfortunately for me I found it at Ellwood Epps for $1267. Last I checked they had one left. I was about to buy it too haha.
