Good day I just purchased a Ruger 10 22, I took it out shooting with my son for rabbit hunting, and I noticed when I place the rifle on "Safe" after cocking the rifle, the trigger seems to freeze once the safety is cycled off for the first shot. I need to apply a great amount of effort to fire the 22 sometimes wiggling the trigger works. This only happens on the first shot than seems to work fine until I change mags and safety the rifle again.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm wondering if it is really going all the way "off". Have you tried it without ammo? Dry firing?

You may have to push harder on the safety to take it fully off. Baring this I would take it back to have it looked at. Mine takes some force to take the safety off but it's not a struggle. A safety should not be a hazard especially when introducing youth to firearms.

Try putting the safety on after letting the bolt go forward. Try it empty, might be ok with a different order of events.

OK, I took it apart and under closer inspection of the trigger group, it appears the safety carries too far left with safety disengaged (Red fire position) by approx. 20 thou. If you apply enough pressure or side pressure on the trigger the sear will pass and the rifle will fire. Once fired the safety seems to remain in the correct position unless you press it again, the same thing happens again.
Is there a way to fix this without replacing the entire trigger group and assembly?
