Looking for feedback on both CZ models, the 75 Tactical Sport & the Tactical Sport .40.
They both come in .40, but one has more bevelled mag well and coloured grips and extra mags...I think the latter has slightly wider grip...

I've shot my colt .45 in single stack for years and now shoot a sti edge in .40...but looking to find the right gun and chemistry in my hands... I prefer grip of single stacks and the regular CZ, over sti's... and definately would find way to shoot any gun before buying another, to be sure i like it...

any feed back on accuraccy, reliability, felt recoil, how differ from Tangfollio (from those who've shot both) etc.. from people who have one or shot one, would be appreciated...
Please, no replies on other guns.. just want for these to similar CZ models...

If you are to shoot competitively - stick with STI Edge .40 (or better gun) for IPSC Std. Div.

1911 trigger is the deal breaker for SA guns. CZ TS is a very very good gun, but 1911 trigger in that Div. is duh killer.

Then why not dust off your Colt and shoot in the new IPSC Classic Division! ;)
 
hey colt45gunner......there is only one model of Tactical Sport from CZ, not two......the CZ 75 Tactical Sport (also just called Tactical Sport) comes in two calibers : 9 Luger, or 40 S&W.........any "colored grips" etc which may make the grips wider or thinner, or magwell differences are due to add-on accessories which you can add to your own preference..those people who prefer a slimmer grip usually like the "feel" of the CZ, Tanfoglio lines (especially with aftermarket "thin" grip panels installed), the weight of it with its full dust cover helps to absorb felt recoil.......the handgun is very well suited for IPSC Standard division , and, if on a budget, it's undoubtably the best you can get for that division for the money you pay

it's been modified way too much to qualify for this new division..
and I like std. division.. just looking for other option to compare and stick long term with which I shoot better with..
though, my other consideration is...well, I'll leave that for another thread.. just want good feedback on the CZ Tactical Sport for now...

Oh, I seen two on some website, 1 had wooden grips and black magwell trim and another with the coloured grips and with a more flared out design magwell, same colour as grips...
it's same ? the magwell is also an accessory ?
any dealers can clarify this ?

in reference to the Wolverine site.....they are the same handgun...the CZ 75 Tactical Sport (in 40 S&W)...the one listed as #3 is the factory stock version, the one listed as #11 has accessory slim colored grips and magwell (you can find those accessory items thru CZ USA)....I am well acquainted with these as I have owned three of the Tactical Sports at various times and one of the former IPSC Standard it derived from....they also have the absolute best stock factory trigger on any handgun I know of approx 1.75 lb (not including some of the Olympic style handguns)
 
I have one of the TS's that come with the aluminum grips and magwell. This gun accepts the small frame CZ 75 .40 cal mags. I like the gun alot although mine has occasional extraction issues. I find the grip- front to back very long and with short fingers I find the gun quite a handful. I have a hard time operating the thumb safety and am having an extended one made by a shooter in Czech. The gun seems very accurate, recoil and muzzle flip with major PF loads are very mild I find. All in all for the price, you can't beat them. I am a fan of CZ anyway, and I look forward to campaigning in standard division next season and this will be my gun of choice. I think it is an awesome gun, and I think it looks awesome. I'm glad I bought it.

sounds like you have plenty of experience with them.. are they reliable for feeding, functioning in general ?
and if so, what areas, if any, can be an issue ?
how's the recoil, muzzle flip compared to other guns ?
and is grip size larger than sti's, same or smaller ?

what do you mean modified too much?

my 1911 was setup for open division... removed the c-more mount, thumb rest, dawson single stack magwell (too large for classic div), slide racker and compensated barrel and it's good to go for classic (need to find new sights though). I'm sure you can manage, whatever you did

I lightened the slide (with holes),not allowed in classice div. (so I heard)
I've had the bottom of grip cut off and custom welded in a magwell (not sure if this is an issue or not, but I think its also a no no)
so, basically need new gun, if want to shoot in classic.
and don't want to spend $$ to be able to do so, right now..

either way, I don't mind to shoot in this div. once in a while, but not as my reg. thing.. I want to shoot in std.

okay i hear ya. yeah slide lightening is no go. magwell outter diameter must be smaller than 35mm if I remember correctly

just measured it and its width is 31.75mm. even if this part is a pass, maybe other rules on the type of magwell or something... ? ?
I'll have to check the rules.. and not sure if the rules listed are final ?

Maybe I'll only need a slide or just puddy/plaster in the holes and paint it ;)

Special conditions:
14. A handgun in its ready condition (see Section 8.1), but unloaded and with an empty magazine
inserted, must fit wholly within the confines of a box which has internal dimensions of 225mm x
150mm x 45 mm (tolerance of +1 mm, -0 mm). Note that all magazines must comply.

15. The handgun is placed inside the box with the barrel parallel to the longest side of the box. Rear
adjustable sights may be slightly depressed during insertion.

16. Handguns must be based on and visibly resemble the classic 1911-genre design. This means a
single-stack, one piece metal frame, and a dust cover (without an accessory rail) which has a
maximum length of 75mm when measured from the leading edge of the dust cover to the rear of
the slide stop pin. Magazine well openings cannot exceed a maximum outside width of 35mm.
Compliance is checked by way of a 35mm wide, and at least 5mm deep, notch carved into the
outside of the box, or by use of a ruler or caliper, as approved by the officiating Range Master.

17 Prohibited modifications are slide lightening cuts, weak hand thumb rests and slide rackers.

18. Permitted modifications are those of a cosmetic nature (e.g. custom grip panels, scrimshaw or
similar surface engravings, checkering or serrations etc.), replacement single or ambidextrous
thumb safeties, and any open sights (which may be embedded into the slide).

19. Magazines accessible to a competitor during a COF must not contain more than 8 rounds (for
Major power factor) or 10 rounds (for Minor power factor) at the Start Signal.

20. 357SIG is also an approved caliber for Major, subject to achieving the applicable

I have the .40 TS (with the magwell, aluminum grips, etc. from the factory as you've described above). I've been shooting it for just under a year in Standard. The gun is scary accurate (compared with my M&P Pro), has an outstanding trigger and like the previous poster, I also had a handful of extraction issues when new. This is a known issue with the TS and adding the extra power extractor spring fixes it (which is what I did)--100% reliable after that.

It is a very large framed pistol so you should definitely handle one before deciding. Oh, and mags can be tough to source at times so be sure to get enough up front. I got my gun and extra mags through a sponsor--CRAFM.
 
Jody from NB has one and really likes it. I have a Limited custom, the italian cousin to that gun... I believe the mags are the same...probably the same extractors, some pins, springs, slide stops.e.tc. It has a very light slide, and I can get my tanfoglio really humming like a change machine, partly due to that slide, and how low it sits in the hand.
I think you would be happy with either.
 
I do in fact like mine, can't wait to get out and use it more. Waiting for a new safety to arrive I had built for it. Major PF ammo in this gun is a joke, With my ammo I found the recoil to have a bit of a snap to it, with very little muzzle flip, and what flip it has, it snaps back pretty quick. The grip is BIG, but the thin aluminum grips make a difference. I couldn't reach the safety very good so I had one made as CZ custom doesn't have any in stock. Trigger is very good, I am more than satisfied with that, although I may add the competition hammer. Mine accepts the small frame mags- so I can use the CZ-75 .40 cal mags although I need to build some basepads to aid in seating the mags more consistently. Accuracy thus far is very good, in the spring I intend to spend some time shooting off a rest to work up some good loads. Right now I am having good luck with AIM projectiles, and WSF powder. Haven't settled on a holster, but likely will use a CR-Speed, but I really enjoy using Bladetech and the race DOH is neat as that's what I have for my single stack and it rocks, so maybe I'll order one of those. I have 5 CZ's presently, and love the brand. I didn't think I would get another CZ that I would enjoy as much as my Shadow, but I may be wrong!
