Should this be this seasons buck or leave him for next season ??

Well im still hoping to get out for bow as long as my parts come in to fix my Mathews Drenalin as my buddy blew it up on me a few weeks ago :(
I have one buck that im kinda on the fence with and not sure if I should pass him by or take him when I get the chance.
There are 3 other bucks in the area 4 and 6 pointers that I also got on the cam.

I know every one likes the concept of the huge buck but the odds are if you don't take him he'll go down by another bullet, predator, car, disease, or starvation ( also, alein abduction ) therefore.....

Put him in the freezer he is a decent buck.
 
Two ways to look at this:

You don't get the big ones by shooting the little ones.

You don't fill your freezer by shooting nothing.

Personally I would let him go, but I am in a zone where I can get a doe and and either ### tag.So, I can get a meat animal then be picky with the trophies.

What he said. Good looking buck but whats the chance you will get a shot next year.
 
Kill it, with fire if necessary, before someone else does it for you.

Just my $0.02.

Haven't seen a shootable deer here for a over a month now, that might have some bearing on my advice as well.
 
In most areas that I'm hunting, the deer population is down....way down....winter kill, coyotes? not sure. But anyways, if you aren't desperate for the meat, leave him until next year, he'll grow up to be a nice buck in a few more years (if he makes it)
 
Do I need the meat, not really as I did get a buck during the first shot gun hunt. I also still have a doe tag that I can fill during the bow hunt.
I'm almost sure I'm the only one who hunts that area but who knows how far he will roam and with another shotgun hunt coming up then it would be a chance I would have to take.
 
I've never shot a deer, so my opinion may be off, but why wouldn't you take him? I don't see any reason not to- there's no guarantee he's going to be around next year.
 
Why don't you send me a mapquest overview of the specific area and location you are hunting. I will, at my expense and time, go there and make my qualified decision as to wether or not to take him or save him. Wouldn't it be a shame to have it harvested by a Buick sometime later this winter? LOL
 
Not sure how big the bucks get your area but that is a pretty small whitetail, if it's a trophy you are looking for give him a change to mature...if it's meat on the table it should be tasty if you can take him out of the rut.

If you have one in the freezer, and a doe tag good for the bow season, then I'd say leave him for this year. He's not "Trophy" sized yet, even by Ontario's smaller standards, and who knows ... maybe he will come back to you next year, or maybe he'll end up being someone else's much needed freezer filler, or another guy's very first Buck. He's big enough to be a great "First", but not the size I would want to "cull" just because I had a tag.
 
Just my two cents but the buck in the first pic looks like he is on the downslope of antler development... I think that is as big as his rack is going to get.... that 9 point would be a beauty next year!.... I would take the first one and leave the second.... JMOP

I was kinda thinking the same. The 9 point is in the back bush on my property so not to worried about him as im sure I will see him next year. Also started using that rackstacker mineral fountain last season and will continue to use it. Not sure how well it works for antler growth but they sure like it as they are even chewing at the roots of the tree that they dug up.
But as of right now I still got no bow as im still waiting for the parts :(
